The wisdom of this world is foolishness toward God (1 Cor. 3:19).
Jehovah is our Grand Instructor. With your help we can face any difficulty (Isa. 30:20, 21). His Word teaches us all that each of us needs to be “fully competent” and “fully equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:17). When we put into practice what the Bible says, we are wiser than those who support “the wisdom of this world” (Psalm 119: 97-100).
Sadly, the wisdom of the world often pushes us to satisfy our selfish desires. So we may find it difficult to resist the way the world thinks and acts. No wonder the Bible says: "Beware: perhaps there is someone who will take you as his prey through philosophy and vain deception according to the tradition of men" (Col. 2: 8). As the Bible predicted, those living in the last days would be "lovers of pleasures" (2 Tim. 3: 4). What does the Word of God teach us?

As we will see, the wisdom of the world often pushes us to satisfy our selfish desires. So we may find it difficult to resist the way the world thinks and acts.
No wonder the Bible says: "Beware: perhaps there is someone who will take you as his prey through philosophy and vain deception according to the tradition of men" (Col. 2: 8).
This article will look at two examples of "vain deception" or false reasoning from this world, and how they became popular. In each case, we will see why the wisdom of the world is foolish or absurd and why the wisdom of the Bible is superior to anything the world promotes.
