I would tell him that his point of view is respectable but that I would like to know why he thinks that way. Once the householder tells me why, I would try to find a way to reason with him through the Bible.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
And it is that there can be many reasons why a person stops believing in God, it can be due to bad experiences with other religious groups, because they are victims of very strong unforeseen events or even because of what is said in schools or the media. regarding the existence of God. Whatever the reason, we must be prepared to give a good answer.
There are many people who believed in God and now say not to. This is because something has happened or changed, so we have to show that Jehovah is not responsible for this system and that there are things that will happen, we should not stop trusting in him. Because it is Satan who controls this system.
Suffering is not caused by Jehovah nor does it come from him. Suffering is one of the main causes why people lose trust in God. We can make the person see that this is not a reason to lose faith, it is like the trust and faith we have in a friend. A friend does not cause our problems or can avoid them, but he is there with us to help us, we trust him and we have faith that he will always be there.
How did the publishers show kindness and empathy?
Listening carefully to the feelings of the householder. And we can see this through the body movements of the publishers, which reflect that they were feeling what the householder was telling them.

The publishers also expressed through words to the householder that they were sorry for what had happened and that they understood his situation. That undoubtedly made the householder feel more receptive since he realized that they paid attention to him and were interested in his feelings.
The brothers took into account the words of the householder. Even one of the brothers is clearly moved by a similar situation and thus expressed his feelings. His words, reaction and gesture along with the words of the conversation leader reflected kindness and empathy with the householder.
