In accordance with the desires of their hearts, God gave them over to filth (Rom. 1:24).

Those who are carried away by the wisdom of the world scoff at the moral standards of the Bible and say they do not conform to reality. You may wonder why God created us with sexual desires and then tells us not to get carried away by them. This way of thinking is based on the misconception that human beings must satisfy all their desires. But the Bible says otherwise. It teaches that it is possible to control bad desires, and that dignifies us (Col. 3: 5). Furthermore, Jehovah made the marriage so that husband and wife could honorably satisfy their legitimate sexual desires. --1 Cor. 7: 8, 9. Unlike the wisdom of the world, the Bible encourages proper judgment about sex. Recognize that sexual intercourse can be a source of pleasure (Prov. 5:18, 19). But he also offers us the following advice: "May each of you know how to take possession of your own vessel [or body] in sanctification and honor, not in lustful sexual appetite" (1 Thess. 4: 4, 5). w19.05 22, 23 pars. 7-9

What has happened to the world's moral standards since the 1960s?

In the 1960s, people began to see homosexuality, easy divorce, and living together without being married as normal. In addition, many forms of entertainment began to show more and more explicit sex scenes. What has been the result of such permissive morality? One writer explained that "the lack of regulation of the sexual norms that now shape society" is at the root of problems such as broken families, single-parent families, emotional wounds and addiction to pornography. The large number of sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, is further proof that the world's wisdom is foolish (2 Pet. 2:19).

Why does Satan want the world to have no moral standards?

This lack of moral standards is what Satan wants for the world. He certainly loves to see that people do not respect sex and marriage, that they are gifts from God (Eph. 2: 2). Those who lead immoral lives not only taint the gift of procreation, but may miss out on the opportunity to live forever. --1 Cor. 6: 9, 10.
