“What to do to make life go well for us” (10 min.)
When a new goal is placed before us, a new job, a new task to perform, a certain fear always arises, sometimes excessive fear. Like if we are going to become parents, run a new business, get into a new job, speak in public, make tough decisions. Everything new contains a certain fear. That is something normal, something innate in the human being.
Thinking about this point, in the Treasures section of the Bible, with the title: "What to do to make life go well for us?" We can take as an example what happened to Joshua, a man who was previously only an assistant to Moses who did what he was told.
But now it was different. He had to make the decisions, since Moses had died. Without a doubt, a lot of fear for this new situation, for this new responsibility. And Jehovah understood this, he knew that he had given him the assignment, but also that there was a responsibility with fear, or perhaps even terror. But how loving Jehovah to go directly to this servant and tell him the words that we can read in Joshua.
LET'S READ: Joshua 1: 7,8
Just be brave and very strong, and carefully obey all the Law that my servant Moses commanded you. Do not deviate from it to the right or to the left, so that you act wisely wherever you go.8 This book of the Law should not leave your mouth, and you must read and meditate on it day and night, in order to that you carefully obey everything that is written in it; because then you will go well on your way and then you will act wisely.
Jehovah was telling Joshua how to act, he shouldn't invent anything, he shouldn't do something new. Just follow the instructions he had already given through Moses. We can apply it to us when we are going to make difficult decisions in our life or want to do something that perhaps we have never done. It all depends on carefully following God's Word.
But of course, to follow something we have to know what it is and how it should be done. So what was said to Joshua must also apply to us. This book of the law should not be adapted from our lives by referring to the Bible. When we come to know what Jehovah really says, we are very clear on how to act.
LET'S READ: Joshua 1: 9
Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or terrified, because Jehovah your God is with you wherever you go ”.
Again, for us too. Regardless of the extreme situation we may or may not face, we must fully trust Jehovah and do his will. As Joshua was told to make life well for us, we want to fully trust Jehovah, study his word, and obey everything he has commanded us.
