They should welcome Mark if he is to see them (Col. 4:10).
Marcos liked to serve others. For example, on various occasions he accompanied the apostles Paul and Peter as they attended to their duties. In those cases, he would buy food, find lodging, or do similar things (Acts 13: 2-5; 1 Pet. 5:13). Paul said he was one of his "collaborators for the Kingdom of God" and "a strengthening help" to him (Col. 4:11, footnote). Marcos and Pablo became close friends. Why do we say it? When the apostle was imprisoned for the last time in Rome, around the year 65, he wrote his second letter to Timothy. In it, he asked Timothy to go to Rome and take Mark with him (2 Tim. 4:11). There is no doubt that he valued the faithful service that Marcos had rendered, and that is why he asked to be with him in those decisive moments. Marcos helped him in various ways, perhaps bringing her food or writing supplies. The support and encouragement Paul received surely helped him endure in the days leading up to his execution. w20.01 11 paras. 12, 13
What might motivate us to ponder 2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4?
We do not have to rummage for brothers in need of comfort. Perhaps we can comfort them with the same ideas that others have used with us. Nino, a sister who lost her grandmother in death, says: “Jehovah can use us to give comfort to others if we let him.” - Read 2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4. And Frances, quoted in paragraph 5, says: “The words of 2 Corinthians 1: 4 are very true. We can comfort others with the comfort that we ourselves receive ”.
a) Why are some afraid to give comfort? b) How can we comfort others? Give an example.
We must look for ways to alleviate the suffering of others despite our fears. For example, we may be afraid of not knowing what to say or what to do about someone who is suffering. An old man named Paul remembers what some brothers did when their father passed away. She says: “I could tell they were having a hard time talking to me. They didn't know what to say to me. But I am still grateful for your desire to support me. " And a brother named Tajon said after experiencing a strong earthquake: “I honestly do not remember what each of the messages I received in the days after the earthquake said. What I do remember is that those who sent them were concerned to know how I was. " There is no doubt that our interest in others can do a lot of good.
Why are we determined to be "a source of great comfort"?
The closer we get to the end of this system, the worse the situation in the world will be and the more difficult life will be in it (2 Tim. 3:13). Furthermore, we are imperfect and will continue to make mistakes. For all this, we will continue to need comfort. The apostle Paul was able to endure faithful until the end of his life thanks in part to the encouragement he received from his brothers. So let us be loyal like Aristarchus, trustworthy like Tychicus, and helpful like Mark. By doing so, we will help our brothers to be faithful to Jehovah. --1 Thess. 3: 2, 3.
The Apostle Paul went through many difficulties during his life. There were some brothers who comforted him a lot in difficult moments. In this article, we'll talk about three qualities that made these Christians such a comfort to others. We will also look at ways to emulate their example.
