Better is revealed censure than hidden love (Prov. 27: 5).

We must remember that if someone has taken the time to correct us, it may be because our mistake is greater than we think. In such circumstances, our initial reaction may be to refuse help. We may criticize the person who offers it to us or how they have spoken to us. But if we are humble we will try to correct our attitude. The humble person appreciates advice. Let's think of an example. Let's imagine that we are in the Kingdom Hall talking with some brothers. Then one of them takes us aside and discreetly tells us that we have some food between our teeth. Sure, we are ashamed. But we appreciate your telling us. What's more, we wish someone had told us earlier. In the same way, we should be humbled when a brother has the courage to give us advice when we need it. Let's not see him as an enemy, as someone who hates us, but as a friend who loves us (Prov. 27: 6; Gal. 4:16). w19.09 5 pars. 11, 12

How do we show humility when other brothers are given privileges of service?

When other brothers receive service privileges. An elder named Jason acknowledges, "When I see others being given certain privileges, I sometimes wonder why they didn't give them to me." Have we ever felt like this? It is not wrong for us to strive to do more for Jehovah. --1 Tim. 3: 1. But we must be careful what we think, because if not we could begin to harbor pride in our hearts. For example, a Christian might begin to think that he or she can best attend to an assignment. Or a sister may think that her husband is better able to do things than another brother. If we are truly humble, we will not think like that.

What do we learn from Moses' reaction when others received privileges?

Let's see what Moses' reaction was when other people were given privileges and what lesson we learn. His assignment as leader of the nation of Israel was very valuable to him. But how did he react when Jehovah allowed other Israelites to help him with his work? He was not jealous (Num. 11: 24-29). And he also showed humility when he let others help him judge the people (Ex. 18: 13-24). With more judges, cases were heard more quickly and the Israelites did not have to wait as long. Moses was more concerned with the welfare of the people than with their privileges. Isn't that a good example for us? Let us remember that if we want to be truly useful to Jehovah, our humility is more important than our ability. As Psalm 138: 6 says, "Jehovah is high, and yet the humble he sees."

What change in circumstances have many brothers experienced?

When circumstances change. In recent years, many siblings with decades of experience have had their assignments changed. For example, in 2014, district superintendents and their wives were invited to serve in another trait of the full-time service. And from that same year the circuit overseers leave their assignment when they turn 70 years old. On the other hand, siblings who are 80 or older can no longer be coordinators of the body of elders. Additionally, in past years, many Bethelites have been invited to pioneer. Others have had to leave the special full-time service due to health problems, family responsibilities, or other circumstances.

How have some of our brothers shown humility?

It was not easy for these brothers to make these changes. Of course, they were fond of the work they did. Many of them had been on their assignment for years. Some felt very sad, but over time they adapted. Why? First of all, because of his love for Jehovah. They were clear that they had dedicated their lives to God, not to an assignment or a title (Col. 3:23). They are glad to continue serving Jehovah humbly in any assignment. These brothers “cast all their anxiety on him” because they know that he cares about them (1 Pet. 5: 6, 7).

Why are we grateful that the Word of God commands us to be humble?

Without a doubt, we are grateful that the Word of God commands us to be humble. Humility benefits ourselves and others. Thanks to this beautiful quality, we better cope with life's difficulties and, above all, we grow closer to our heavenly Father. How glad we are to know that even though Jehovah is “High and Exalted,” he loves and values ​​his humble servants! - Isa. 57:15.
