Preach the word (2 Tim. 4: 2).
Although our preaching may seem fruitless, let us not give up hope of finding potential disciples. Remember that Jesus compared this work to fishing. Fishermen can spend many hours working without catching a single fish. They often work at night or in the early morning, and sometimes have to navigate long distances (Luke 5: 5). Similarly, some Witnesses spend many hours patiently “fishing” at different times and in different places. They do it to have a better chance of finding more people. Those who make this special effort are usually able to talk to people who are interested in our message. Could we preach at a time of day or in a place where people are most likely to be found? Why is patience required when conducting Bible courses? One reason is that we don't just have to help the student know and love the teachings of the Bible. We must also help him to know and love his Author, Jehovah. w19.07 18-19 pars. 14, 15
Why do we say that all evangelizers help to find sincere people?
All Christian evangelizers help to find sincere people. Our work could be compared to searching for a lost child. In what sense? Let's see a real case. To search for a lost three-year-old boy, about five hundred people collaborated. Finally, about twenty hours after the boy was lost, a volunteer found him in a cornfield. But he did not want to take credit for locating it, but said: "We found it thanks to the efforts of hundreds of people."
Many feel lost like that child. They have no hope, but they want help (Eph. 2:12). More than eight million Jehovah's Witnesses are looking for these people. Perhaps we personally will not find anyone who wants to study the Bible, but other publishers who preach in the same territory do. When a brother meets someone who becomes a disciple of Christ, we all have reason to rejoice.
Even if we don't run a Bible course, in what other ways can we help make disciples?
Even if we are not running a Bible course right now, we can contribute to disciple-making in other ways. For example, when someone new comes to the Kingdom Hall, we can welcome them back and make them feel good. In this way we help him convince himself that love identifies us as true Christians (John 13:34, 35). On the other hand, the answers we give in meetings, even if they are brief, can teach you to express your convictions with sincerity and respect. We can also go out preaching with a new publisher and help him use the Bible to reason with people. By doing this, we teach him to copy the example of Christ (Luke 10: 25-28).
Do we need exceptional disciple-making skills? Give an example.
We should not think that we need exceptional skills to teach someone to be a disciple of Jesus. The example of Faustina, who lives in Bolivia, helps us understand why. When he met Jehovah's Witnesses, he could not read, but he has learned a little. Now she is baptized, and she loves to teach people the truth. Typically, he conducts five Bible courses each week. Although Faustina cannot read as well as most of her students, she has helped six people make the decision to be baptized (Luke 10:21).
Even though we are very busy, what blessings can we receive from participating in the disciple-making work?
Many Christians have important responsibilities to attend to and are therefore very busy. Even so, they take time to lead Bible courses, a work that gives them great happiness. Let's look at Melanie's example. She was a single mother with an eight-year-old daughter. In addition, she had a full-time job and helped care for her father, who was suffering from cancer. She lived in a remote town in Alaska, where she was the only Jehovah's Witness. Over and over again he asked God to give him the strength to go out and preach despite the cold, for he wanted to find someone to teach what the Bible says. Finally, he found Sara, who was thrilled to see that God has a name. After some time, this woman accepted a course in the Bible. Melanie explains: “On Friday afternoons I was exhausted. But my daughter and I were going to give her the Bible classes, and that did us a lot of good. We loved looking for information to answer Sara's questions, and we were very happy to see her become friends with Jehovah. " Sara bravely faced opposition, left her church, and was baptized.
