4. How do the circuit overseers display an attitude similar to that of the Levites?

In the same way, today, circuit overseers, when they turn 70, no longer serve many congregations, because they understand that it is better if younger brothers take care of them, so they accept the new assignment with a "good attitude" to give help and encouragement to the congregation where they serve.

Because even though they had been in circuit work for 23 years when they turned 70, they did not think that their work was over, now they were taking advantage of the new opportunity that was presented to them to train others to help the brothers progress in a spiritual sense to preaching in metropolitan areas in prisons, so they knew that they could not focus on what they had left behind but that there would be many doors of activity.

So instead of concentrating on what you can no longer do which would frustrate you, you focus more on what you can do and do the best you can, this result is that you feel happy with what you do and feel useful. for Jehovah and for the brethren.

And once again we can see the great difference that exists between Jehovah's people and this world in which many people when they reach a certain age think about stopping work and retiring to dedicate themselves to rest, however in Jehovah's people we can observe many, many Brothers who when they reach that point in their lives decide to do more for him, they undertake the pioneer service and the phrase he says is very interesting, now after so many years that we are on the circuit he is busier than ever, what an excellent example for us. leave these brothers.

Well, he is wise because he recognizes his limitations and by doing this he knows what he can and cannot do and that is why he is happy because he does not get frustrated thinking about what he cannot do. 

And we can compare it to driving a vehicle going uphill, the safest thing is that we have to change to a gear at a lower speed, it is true that this will imply that the vehicle goes slower but it will go up if we did not do it, it would surely stay stopped or could even go down because equally a modest person has to realize when he has to change at a lower speed to continue advancing perhaps more slowly but still continue helping in the congregation and the brothers.

And as indicated in Philippians 4: 5, the modest person is also reasonable, not only reasonable with what he expects from others, many times we are very reasonable with others but we are very demanding with ourselves, but being reasonable also implies doing it with ourselves, thus a A modest person changes circumstances, knows how to adapt to them and also adapts and does not demand himself beyond his possibilities. 

7. How did Barzilái show that he was modest?

Interestingly, Barzilay was satisfied with having accompanied the King to the Jordan as a second sample of Samuel 19:36, he showed modesty in recognizing his limitations and at the same time contentment for the things that he could do.

And it is easy to think that Barzilay when he heard this offer from David made him very excited to be part of the royal court was a great privilege but as we see here in the biblical story he did not allow himself to be carried away by illusion but rather carried by modesty, a watchman said that perhaps due to his age he might think that he did not live much longer or perhaps due to the limitations he had as verse 35 says he did not want to become a burden to David, so without a doubt it was a great example that we can all follow.

He admits, he says aloud what his limitations are, he says that he can no longer taste well, I cannot hear well, so he knows that he may not fulfill his assignment perfectly. 

8. How did King David show modesty when he wanted to build the temple?

Although he deeply loved Jehovah and wanted with all his heart to make a house for God. However, when he was told that it was not going to be him, the person in charge of carrying it out was also concerned because his son Solomon was young. But that did not mean that he was withdrawing from aid. He collaborated to prepare the necessary materials, because he knew that it was a huge, extraordinarily grand construction. It is because David knew that success depended on Jehovah's blessing, not on the age or experience of those who led the works. Personally, I liked this comment and it is something that applies to older brothers, who have a lot of experience, a lot of wisdom. But it is Jehovah who blesses and uses the brother he sees fit.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

David wholeheartedly desired to personally be a home for Jehovah. But when Jehovah told him that his son, young Solomon, would do it, he agreed and gave him his full support. David knew that the success of this work was not due to the age or experience of the person who will carry it out, but depended on Jehovah's blessing. This is an example for older Christians, they should be modest and active even when their responsibilities change and support the young people who now attend to the tasks that they did before.

David wanted with all his heart to build the temple for Jehovah but when Jehovah decided that it would be Solomon who would do it because David did not know angry he accepted it and gave all his support to the work. 

This example is very interesting in a 2017 Watchtower explained that modesty is not only recognizing our limitations but that modesty is the effect that our actions have on us, the result of recognizing those limitations and then acting according to them, then Here David had everything he had the resources he had the experience that limitation would have then to make the temple that he wanted to do, because the limitation was put by Jehovah and the paragraph says he realized that success depended on Jehovah's blessing and there was the limitation that he had the blessing went to Solomon.

And even if he rightly thought that his son was not qualified at that time due to his lack of experience to fulfill that commission, he knew Jehovah well and knew that if Jehovah had chosen him to fulfill that commission, he would also qualify him so that he could accomplish it. that he concentrated on what he could do to help him fulfill that commission and prepare everything in his power so that he could do it.

And in the case of David, if he had not been modest when Jehovah gave him this news, he would most likely have left the project and would have probably left Solomon his son who would have carried all that responsibility alone, but how beautiful it is as we have also analyzed how we see In the image that was by his side giving him all the support he needed, It is just as nice to see today in the congregations in the organization older brothers who can no longer do or fulfill certain responsibilities but are next to the young people supporting them by giving them all your help and experience so that they too can achieve success as they did.

9. How did a member of a Branch Committee show modesty?

Shigeo is mentioned in this paragraph in 1976 when he was 30 years old, he was appointed to a branch committee, and 28 years later. In other words, in 2004 he became the coordinator of that committee and of course he had already advanced in age and he realized later that he was not as fast in his work as before, that he no longer had the strength of before. So he mentions that he discussed the matter with Jehovah and considered the advantages of having a younger brother take his place. And so it was now he is not the coordinator of that branch committee, but he is still part of it. A younger brother replaced him, and this certainly shows that he wanted the best for the functioning of Jehovah's organization. So that whatever job you had to do would perform better.

Brother Shigeo was modest because, after realizing that he no longer had the strength of before and was not so fast in his work, I am willing to have another younger brother take his place as coordinator of a Branch Committee. Today, he is still part of the committee and collaborating with others. The good example of the brother teaches us that if we are humble and modest we will focus on seeing the strengths of the young people, so that we will see them as partners and not as rivals.

But maybe the rest of the classmates hadn't thought about it that way, but he was honest with himself. He also says that he spoke to Jehovah about the matter and thought about the advantages of having a younger brother take his place, so he made the best decision in that moment it was that someone else was part of the branch committee although perhaps he would be fond of his assignment thus showing that he was modest.

At the end of the paragraph it is mentioned a little bit that the humble older brothers will not see the young as their rivals and it is that as mentioned by proverbs among all with the strength of the young and the experience of the older the congregations the branches and ultimately the organization It works better, it continues to work and that is why feelings of rivalry should not emerge but of gratitude for having each other and being able to help each other.

BE THANKFUL

10. How do the older brothers view the younger ones in the congregation?

They see them as a gift from Jehovah and are very grateful for what they do.

11. How does Ruth 4: 13-16 show that the older ones benefit when they appreciate the help of the younger ones?

As in the case of Noemi, he benefited from a young woman, from her daughter-in-law Ruth. Because she did not want to return to her family, but wanted to accompany her permanently to Bethlehem. For accepting that help, they both received the blessing. This example shows that the elderly should allow themselves to be helped by the young.

This story shows us the benefit Naomi gained when she was grateful and accepted the help of her daughter-in-law Ruth. Although she initially asked Ruth to return to her family, she insisted on staying and Naomi accepted the help. After Ruth married Boas, Obed was considered probable of Naomi and was a blessing to both of them.

It is very nice what in the text it is said that the women who knew Naomi's situation said praise be to Jehovah that he has not left you without a repurchaser, everyone saw that Nohemí was in a very difficult situation but thanks to the help that he was able to receive from Ruth could have been accompanied at such a delicate moment.

And I also like the verses that we have read because it shows at least two clear benefits that she received, on the one hand, she benefited from the care and affection of her daughter-in-law that are mentioned in verse 10-15 that she loves you and that is better. for you than 7 children and on the other hand because he also had the privilege of raising the son of Ruth and Boaz who became the ancestor of Jesus, so he probably received much more than what Naomi had imagined for allowing herself to be helped and from the same Thus, when our elders also humbly accept the help we offer them, they will also receive many blessings from Jehovah.

If we do not know, but perhaps Naomi thought that Jehovah was behind that decision and Naomi accepted it with pleasure, so today's older brothers also think that Jehovah is behind a young man perhaps helping them and selling him that way as a gift of Jehovah.

12. How did the Apostle Paul show that he was grateful ?

He always expressed his gratitude, for example to the Christians in Philippi for the help they had sent him. He also gave it to Timothy for what he had done for him, although Paul is described as an energetic man, who liked to preach, defend the truth, and strengthen congregations. He was also someone who expressed his gratitude in a public way, he did not write so that others would find out that he appreciated the help he received. But the point that stands out here is that he never stopped accepting the help his brothers sent him.

The apostle Paul showed gratitude on several occasions, for example thanked the help that the Christians of Philippi sent him. He also expressed his gratitude for the help young Timothy was giving him. And he thanked Jehovah for the encouragement that the brothers gave him when he went as a prisoner to Rome. This shows us that despite his experience in the ministry he was not proud, rather, he was humble, grateful and accepted the help of the brothers.

In Philippians 4:16 it is mentioned when he thanked the Philippian Christians for the help they had given him and specified not just once but twice.

Philippians 2: 19-22 recognizes the work that Timothy had done on his behalf and also in these words we find a good detail that was how he sincerely appreciated the qualities of young Timothy.

Well, there in fact we also find when Pablo was imprisoned on the way to Rome because there it says that the brothers when they heard about them went to the celery market square, some even traveled more than 50 kilometers to go see him, so here Paul also in verse 15 thanks Jehovah for the beautiful help he received. 

13. How can older siblings show appreciation for what younger siblings do?

The elderly must allow others to help them attend to certain necessary matters. It is very common but older people say: I don't want to cause problems, but when they don't get help they have problems. And sometimes worse because if it has to do with their health, it deteriorates, if they need to buy something, at this time of the pandemic they can even get infected by not allowing other siblings to give them help. And if they give it to them, they should be grateful, the older brothers should see that what the young people do is a blessing from Jehovah. It is as if they refused to receive help from Jehovah and I believe that no one would. So we should be grateful when someone offers to help us and of course always tell young people how much they appreciate them, how happy they are to see their spiritual growth,They should spend time with them and also share their experiences with them.

They can show that they are appreciative of what young people do when they accept their help. So when they offer to take them somewhere, go shopping, or attend to other necessary matters, they should gratefully accept their help and see it as an expression of Jehovah's love. In addition, another way to show it is by spending time and sharing your experiences, if they do so they will show “their gratitude” to Jehovah for the young people he has brought to the congregation.

The paragraph mentions how the young people of the congregation make plans and offer to take these older brothers somewhere or go shopping, attend to some matter they need, because how they want to accept that help and see the help of these young people as a care direct from Jehovah through the youth of the congregation.

I really like the idea with which the paragraph ends because it says that when these older brothers accept this help that the young people do so happily on their behalf, they are showing gratitude not only to those young people but also to Jehovah, and it is very interesting from the texts that they come here at the end especially John 6:44 because there it says that Jehovah attracts people to his people so Jehovah has attracted these young people he has also taught them how they have to treat and care for the elderly, so that the elderly take advantage of this provision from Jehovah is also a way of thanking him.

Another way to show appreciation is by showing sincere interest in the brothers for their progress, before we saw for example of a superintendent who tried to train young brothers to be ministerial servants and also tell him to talk to them, thank him and tell them how happy they are to see how they strive to do more in the congregation.

It is true that young people often lack knowledge experience but it is very nice to see how older brothers focus on what we do try to demonstrate because we appreciate so much effort that they dedicate the time they give us to continue progressing and we value that very much . 

BE GENEROUS

14. How did King David show that he was generous?

Well he donated a huge amount of his wealth to support the construction of the temple. The amount he gave was great, 100 thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver and a huge amount of copper and also iron, wood, stones, everything necessary and he did it despite the fact that most of the recognition was given. He would take her to his son Solomon. Remember that it is called the temple that Solomon built, not that David built it. But even so, he was generous because it was towards Jehovah and here it is mentioned in the case of the older brothers, possibly they will not be able to support the construction projects because their energies do not allow it. But if they can do it through their voluntary donations according to their circumstances and also the experience that is given to young people.

David showed generosity when he donated a huge amount of his wealth to support the construction of the temple. So, older brothers than their strength does not allow them to collaborate in construction projects, if their circumstances allow it, they can be generous and give their support with their donations or by sharing their experience with the younger ones.

The account of the first chronicles 22 shows that he not only encouraged his son to do the work but also told him that Jehovah would be with him, he prepared many materials for him, such as gold silver wood stone copper and iron he also prepared the professional workers for all those materials even knowing that much of that recognition was going to go to his son Solomon, so he was very generous.

And I like that he not only shared the resources but also shared his experience and wisdom as we saw earlier in the Illustration that he was a man shoulder with him although he knew that he lacked that experience because that is why he gave it to him. We are also very grateful that the older brothers also share their experience and their wisdom with us because that also helps us a lot.

And from this example the older siblings can also learn a lot because it mentions that if their circumstances no longer allow them to collaborate with our construction projects, what is in their power is to be able to collaborate as far as the circumstances allow with their donations. 

15. What things of great value did Paul share with Timothy?

He asked him to accompany him on his travels and taught him his methods of preaching and teaching. Thanks to this training, Timothy became a skilled teacher of the good news. And he was able to train others as well, who would not have wanted to train with the apostle Paul. That was something valuable that he shared with Timothy.

Paul shared his teaching and preaching methods with Timothy, training him to be a skilled teacher of the good news. And he, in turn, used what Paul taught him to train others.

Timothy was a true missionary companion, Paul taught him his methods, he helped him be a good teacher, he taught him how to handle delicate matters in the congregation, in other words, he made him his spiritual son and that was a great example of generosity.

That good experience that Timothy lived in this case served him in the future, as he says at the end of paragraph 15, to use what Paul had taught him to train others in turn, so we realize how the benefits of these actions that our older brothers and sisters can do with the younger ones can take a long time.

16. Why did Shigeo train others?

Because he knew he was doing something that would serve to support the work of the kingdom, in the country where he was serving.
