TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, January 3-9, 2022, “How horrible is betrayal!” Prepared Speech.

"How horrible is betrayal!" (10 mins.)

When we see the introductory image of the subject we are considering, we can immediately describe it: We see a despicable act, the greedy Delilah betraying Samson, the man who loved her!

With his shameful act, he caused a lot of damage. But why should we be interested in what this woman did? Well, we are interested because the story is biblical and examples like these serve as a warning not to act like her, and to value more the importance of loyalty, especially in these last days.

Let's go to the story: Because Judge Samson would lead the fight of Israel against the Philistines, some leaders took advantage of Delilah to betray him, perhaps knowing that she did not feel love or loyalty for Samson, they wanted to find out the secret of her extraordinary force in order to remove it.

LET'S READ: Judges 16: 4,5.

And after that it came to pass that he fell in love with a woman in the torrent valley of Soreq, and her name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistine axis proceeded to go up to her and say to her: “Embáucalo and see what his great power lies in and with what we can prevail against him and with what we can be sure of binding him to dominate him; and we, for our part, will each give you 1,100 pieces of silver. "

When Delilah failed in her attempt to discover Samson's secret, then she resorts to another tactic: Pressuring Samson with tears and reproaches, taking advantage of the love that Samson had for her to get her way ... achieve what she wanted, have her lover reveal to her your secret.

LET'S READ: Judges 16: 15,18.

She now said to him: “How do you have the nerve to say, 'I really love you,' when your heart is not with me? These three times you have mocked me and you have not declared to me what your great power is ”. 16 And it came to pass that, because she urged him on with her words at all times, and kept urging him on, his soul grew impatient to the point of wanting to die. 17 At last he revealed his whole heart to her and said: “Never has a razor come on my head, because I am a Nazarite of God from my mother's womb. If I was really shaved, then my power would certainly turn away from me, and I would really weaken and become like all other men. " 18 When Delilah came to see that he had revealed all his heart to her, she immediately sent for the Philistine lords of the axis, and said: "Go up this time, because you have revealed all your heart to me."And the Philistine lords of the axis went up to her to bring the money in her hand.

Did the whine and blame tactic turn out to be? Yes, because verse 16 says that "she burdened him and pressed him day after day" to such a degree that "he ended up so tired that he wanted to die," and he ended by revealing the secret.

Right away, she saw to it that his hair was cut while he slept on her lap and handed it over to his enemies to do whatever they wanted with him.

What do we learn from this bad example? What do we learn from this shameful act of betrayal? Well, the name "Delilah" will be forever linked to betrayal and feigned love. And that it is vital that we fight against any tendency towards ambition or greed, as we could lose Jehovah's favor.

There are no stronger lessons to help us reject something as deplorable as betrayal.

LET'S READ: 1 Thessalonians 2:10.

In fact, you are witnesses, and also God, that we conduct ourselves in a loyal, just and blameless manner towards you, the believers.

Paul's advice is: "Conduct yourselves in a loyal, just and blameless manner"… Therefore: As Jehovah's Witnesses we must be loyal in the family and in the congregation, never disturbing peace and unity.

We all know that adultery is one of the most devastating forms of betrayal. And often, the first step in that direction is taken when they distance themselves emotionally from each other, let's prevent that from happening and if it is the case.

Let us identify the problem and immediately correct it, for Jehovah hates divorce, and has strongly expressed that he condemns married couples who betray their partner in this way.

On the other hand, we must also always be loyal to God, even in cases in which a brother has been expelled from the congregation, especially if he is a family member or friend.

In cases like these, our loyalty comes into play, not to the person, but to God. Jehovah watches us and knows if we are obeying his command not to have contact with anyone who has been expelled. (1 Corinthians 5: 11-13)

LET'S READ: Psalm 18: 25,26.

To the one who is loyal you show loyalty; You treat the blameless man blamelessly; 26 with those who are pure you show yourself pure, but with the crooked you show yourself cunning.

"Jehovah rewards those who remain loyal," says the Psalmist, let's keep it in mind.

We live in a treacherous and disloyal world, let us prevent that from influencing us, let us follow the example of faithful and loyal men who have served and some remain in the congregations, and show daily that we have made the firm decision to remain loyal to God, both in the family as well as in the congregation as we move towards a better world that is soon to come.
