We know that we come from God (1 John 5:19).
Jehovah gives sisters an important place in the congregation. They set a good example of wisdom, faith, enthusiasm, courage, generosity, and good works (Luke 8: 2, 3; Acts 16:14, 15; Rom. 16: 3, 6; Philip. 4: 3; Heb. 11:11, 31, 35). We are also blessed to have many older siblings. They may be struggling with the ailments of age, but they do their best in preaching and use their energies to encourage and empower others. And how much their experience teaches us! They are undoubtedly beautiful to Jehovah and to us (Prov. 16:31). Let us also think of the young. It is not easy for them to grow up in this world dominated by the Devil and his satanic ideas. But how much it encourages us to see them comment in meetings and preach, and to know that they courageously defend their faith at other times. Youths,you also occupy an important place in Jehovah's congregation. —Psalm 8: 2. w20.08 22 pars. 9-11
According to 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11, what should we recognize about any abilities we have?
Consider this: Some first-century Christians were given miraculous gifts of the holy spirit by Jehovah, but not all had the same gifts (read 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11). Although Jehovah gave each Christian different gifts and talents, they were all valuable. It is true that today we do not have the miraculous gifts of the holy spirit, but the principle has not changed. We may not all have the same abilities, but we are all valuable to Jehovah.
What advice of the apostle Paul should we follow?
Instead of comparing ourselves to other Christians, let us follow the apostle Paul's advice: "Let each one examine his own actions, and then he will have reason to rejoice over what he himself has done, without comparing himself to another person" (Gal. 6: 4) ).
How will following Paul's advice benefit us?
If we follow Paul's advice and examine our own actions, we may begin to see that we have talents that others do not have. For example, an elder may not be a very good teacher when he is on the platform, but he is in the disciple-making work. Or you may not be as organized as other elders in your congregation, but you may be known for being a loving pastor whom brothers turn to for advice from the Bible. Or perhaps he has a reputation for being hospitable (Heb. 13: 2, 16). When we are clear about our strengths, we will see that we have reason to rejoice in what we bring to the congregation. And, furthermore, we will be less likely to envy brothers who have talents other than our own.
