Congregation Book Study, February 28-March 6, 2022, Chapter 21, Paragraphs 7-12, Answers.
Congregation Bible Study (30 min.): rr chap. 21 paras. 7-12.
7. What is the city that Ezekiel saw? And what could he represent? (See the drawing at the beginning).
As we saw in Ezekiel's vision, the Bible tells us that the land was symbolic, and the city also appears in that vision, which means that the city is symbolic or spiritual in the same way.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Since the land or terrain is symbolic then the city must also be. Composed of an organized structure so that the group of people that make up this city could represent a well-organized administration.
Like the symbolic or spiritual land, the city would also be symbolic and represents the idea of a community of people that would be well organized, both in the buildings and in the direction of the people. The city could represent a well-organized administration.
The city that Ezekiel saw is a symbolic city. The word "city" conveys the idea of a community of people who make up an organized structure. And that city, which formed a perfect square, could represent a well-organized administration.
ILLUSTRATION:
Aerial view of the city called “Jehovah Is There”.
8. Where does the administration perform its functions, and how do we know?
This administration performs its functions within the environment of the people of God, where he carries out his spiritual activities.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
In the vision the city is said to be within the symbolic or spiritual land. He performs his duties on the common ground. Therefore it is a terrestrial administration, it is what this ministry has done, for the benefit of the inhabitants.
The administrative functions would be carried out on earth and not from heaven, but within the city itself and we know this because the city is in a common or non-sacred land, so the direction or administration is not heavenly but terrestrial for the benefit of its citizens and its spiritual paradise.
This administration performs its functions within the environment where the people of God carry out their spiritual activities. And we know this because this city is inside the symbolic land. Also, as we saw last week in paragraph 6, this city was built on common land, not sacred land. Therefore, this administration is not heavenly, but earthly.
9. a) Who make up the terrestrial administration today?
In Ezekiel's vision we see that the one who is the government of the city is the boss. He means that today it is the congregational overseers, particularly those who are not anointed, who can compose the earthly administration.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Those who supervise as overseers of the congregation who are of the other sheep.
The terrestrial administration will be composed of a chief who will be in charge of supervising the flock and who is not a Levite or a priest but similar to the congregation overseers who are excellent and loving shepherds of the other sheep and humble servants of the heavenly government of Christ.
Well, as it says in Ezekiel 45:7, it is “the boss” who is in charge of this administration. These are the congregational overseers, who are not anointed, the elders.
b) What will Jesus do during the Millennium?
Jesus will choose and appoint competent “princes” or elders “throughout all the earth”
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
According to Psalm 45:16, Jesus will erect and appoint competent princes or elders throughout the earth who will be under the direction of the heavenly Kingdom and will be in charge of caring for the people of God during the thousand years.
Jesus during the Thousand Year Reign, as Psalm 45:26 says, will choose and appoint princes or competent elders throughout the earth who will take care of the people during this Millennium.
During the Millennium, Jesus will appoint "princes," or competent elders, throughout the earth, and under the direction of the heavenly Kingdom, they will care for God's people.
"Jehovah Is There"
10. What is the name of the city, and what guarantees its name?
The city is called “Jehovah Is There”. The name of this city guarantees that the presence of Jehovah is present.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
The city is called “Jehovah Is There”. His name guarantees that Jehovah's presence is felt in this city.
The city is called "Jehovah Is There" and as its name indicates, it guarantees the presence of Jehovah and therefore, all his qualities, promises and love for his earthly children.
As we have read in Ezekiel 48:35, the city is called "The Lord is there." This assures us that Jehovah is present in this city. He is with his people to guide him.
11. What other lessons do we learn about the city of vision and its name?
For example, we learn that the city will guarantee those who serve Jehovah, that he will always be among his faithful people. They also tell us that this city is not here to give us authority, the city is here so that God's wise instructions can be fulfilled.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
The name of the city guarantees us that Jehovah will always be with his people. In addition, the city is there so that Jehovah's reasonable and kind instructions can be carried out.
We also learn that Jehovah will always be with his loyal people in this city, and that the earthly administration will do and respect the order established by God and its purpose will be to care for its citizens, complying with Jehovah's reasonable and kind instructions.
One lesson we draw is that the city is not there to give authority to any human being, but to carry out Jehovah's instructions.
Furthermore, Jehovah expects these administrators, elders, and overseers to respect the place he has given them within the organization. They appreciate the opportunity that Jehovah gives them to advance and become better shepherds and overseers.
12. a) What characteristic of the city can we highlight, and what does it make us understand?
Some of the characteristics of the city that stand out are: that the city was protected by walls, and had 12 doors, this means that thanks to so many doors the administrators are accessible and available to all the servants of Jehovah.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
This city has 12 gates, it is on each side. This reminds us that the administrators are available to all the servants of God, that this city is open to everyone.
The number of doors is a feature to highlight, since it denotes that it is accessible from many places. That is, it is accessible or open to anyone who sincerely wishes to enter and the terrestrial administrators are also accessible to the population and at their disposal.
In Ezekiel 48:31, it says that "the gates of the city shall be according to the names of the tribes of Israel." That is, this city has 12 gates. This is somewhat remarkable, because in ancient times cities had as few gates as possible.
And this gives us to understand that administrators are accessible and available to all the servants of God. And the fact that it has 12 gates highlights that this city is open to everyone.
(b) What important idea does this vision remind the elders?
It reminds them that what Jehovah wants is for them to be attainable and available to the inhabitants of the spiritual paradise.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
That Jehovah wants them to be accessible and available to all the inhabitants of the spiritual paradise.
This idea of doors and accessibility teaches the elders that they have to make themselves accessible and available to their people, be available to them and help all their sheep of the spiritual paradise.
It reminds them of the important idea that they should be accessible. Jehovah wants them to be accessible and available to everyone in the spirit paradise.
ILLUSTRATION:
An old man talking to some children at the Kingdom Hall and looking at some pictures they made.
The elderly are very accessible and are always willing to spend time with others. (See paragraph 12).
