Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Sunday February 6, 2022

Jehovah hates crooked people, but he has a close friendship with those who are upright (Prov. 3:32).

Today, millions of imperfect humans have a beautiful friendship with Jehovah. They can enjoy this friendship because they have faith in the sacrifice of Jesus. Because of the ransom, Jehovah grants us the honor of dedicating ourselves to him and being baptized. As we take these important steps, we join the millions of dedicated, baptized Christians who already enjoy “close friendship” with the greatest person in the universe. How can we show gratitude for friendship with God? Imitating Abraham and Job. They remained faithful to God for over a hundred years. We must do the same, no matter how long we have been serving Jehovah in this old system. We should also imitate Daniel and value our friendship with Jehovah more than our own life.—Dan. 6:7, 10, 16, 22. With the help of Jehovah.

How can the holy spirit help us?

The holy spirit helps us to fulfill well the responsibilities we receive in our service to God. It can enhance our talents and abilities. In fact, we know that the good results we achieve serving Jehovah are not due to our efforts, but to the help of his spirit.

According to Psalm 139:23, 24, what can we ask for in prayer?

Another way to show that we value the holy spirit is to ask Jehovah to help us detect any wrong thoughts or desires in our hearts (read Psalm 139:23, 24). In answer to our prayers, Jehovah can make us see through his spirit if there is something we need to correct. And, if that happens, let us ask the Holy Spirit to give us strength to fight against that bad thought or desire. This will show that we do not want to do anything that prevents Jehovah from continuing to help us with his spirit.—Eph. 4:30.

How can we feel more gratitude for the holy spirit?

We can feel more gratitude for the holy spirit if we reflect on what he is currently accomplishing. Before going up to heaven, Jesus told his disciples: “You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you. And they shall be my witnesses . . . to the most distant part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). These words have been fulfilled in an extraordinary way. Supported by the holy spirit, more than 8.5 million people from all corners of the globe have chosen to serve Jehovah. Furthermore, we are in a spiritual paradise, as the holy spirit helps us to cultivate beautiful qualities that are part of the “fruit of the spirit”, such as love, happiness, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith , mildness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22, 23). Without a doubt, the holy spirit is a gift of great value.
