David was running away from Saul, because he wanted to kill him. David had nothing to eat, so he went to the city of Nob, and he asked for 5 loaves. David and his men after eating were able to take refuge in a cave and hide there.

He was fleeing from the powerful king Saul who wanted to kill him and they did not have anything to eat and he asked for five loaves.
2. How did Saul put himself in a dangerous position? (1 Samuel 23:16, 17).
Saul seeing that David was loved by all, because he won many battles, Saul became jealous and since he was still the king of Israel, he had a huge army, that's why he had David killed. And that's why David had to run away so they wouldn't kill him. Saul by doing that is putting himself in a very dangerous position.

He was fighting against Jehovah. And this was because of the envy he had of David since he had been chosen to occupy the throne of Israel, he had the support of many of Israel.
3. How was David feeling in spite of everything he was going through?
As David was humble, he did not blame Jehovah for the dangers he was facing. He didn't feel bad or blame anyone either, for not having much food and for having to run away. Even though he had to go through all this, he in the cave composed a song of praise.

He never blamed Jehovah for what happened to him. It is more like that while he was hiding in a cave he composed the beautiful song which is our thematic text of study and of the year. “Those Who Seek Jehovah Will Lack No Good Thing”

We will answer these questions: In what sense did David lack “nothing good”? Why should we learn to be content with what we have? These questions are important because there are many brothers today who do not have enough food or lack other things that are needed to live.

5, 6. How does Psalm 23:1-6 help us understand what David meant when he said that God's servants would lack “nothing good”?
It helps us better understand a part of Psalm 23, which says: “The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall lack nothing”, this paragraph makes us understand that there are things that are more important, such as the spiritual blessings that Jehovah gives us. And that being with him we will not lack anything.

He was referring to the abundant blessings that he enjoys because Jehovah is his shepherd. In a spiritual sense he had everything he needed the most important thing was to have God's blessing and protection.

Jehovah had told them that Judea would be surrounded by encamped armies, and for nothing to happen to them they would have to flee to the mountains, but if they did that they would have to leave many things, such as their houses and fields.

This teaches us that we have to be ready, and believe in Jehovah, like the Christians in Judea, who trusted in him and fled.

9. How does the advice the apostle Paul gave the Hebrews encourage you?
They encourage us in many ways, the words of the apostle Paul tell us that Jehovah will never leave us alone, that we can trust him.

They needed faith to trust that Jehovah would help them get what they needed. 5 years ago the apostle Paul had advised them: «Let your way of life be free from the love of money, and be content with the things you have». Those who obeyed that advice later found it easier to adapt to a simpler life.

10. What “secret” did Paul leave on record for us?
"So if we have food and clothes, let's be happy with that." He meant that we have to be happy with the material things we have, whether it is little or a lot. Because what really should matter to us is the beautiful relationship we have with God.

What he meant is that we should be content with what we have in a material sense. The most valuable possession we have is our friendship with God, not material things.
11. What lesson do we learn from what Moses told the Israelites?
We learn that Jehovah will be happy, if we finally learn to be happy with what we have, we have to learn to value things, and see everything we have as a blessing.

"During these 40 years, Jehovah your God has been with you and you have not lacked anything." He gave them manna as food. And his clothes, the same ones in which they had left Egypt, never wore out.

12. Why do we know that David trusted in Jehovah and not in himself?
Because even though he was a warrior and was going to be king, he did not trust his abilities to defeat his enemies. He only trusted Jehovah and that he would always protect him.

When he composed Psalm 34, his faith was so strong that he felt as if the angel of Jehovah was camping around him. Although David was a mighty warrior, he trusted God and his angel to rescue those who fear him.
13. When Gog of Magog launches his attack, why will it seem like we're easy targets, but why won't we be afraid? (See cover drawing.)
When Gog de Magog launches his attack, a group of nations will believe that we are weak and that it will be easy to kill us, because they think we are alone, but we will not be afraid, because Jehovah will save us and help us.

Because we have no weapons or training for war. They will not see what we will see with the eyes of faith: an army of angels encamped around God's people ready to defend us.

14. What must we do now to prepare for the future?
We have to remember that one day we will have to do just like the Christians in Judea, go no matter what and leave everything behind. We have to be happy with what we have, and always be grateful for the things we have.

We must be very clear that one day we will have to leave and leave everything material behind. We should be content with what is necessary and feel very happy to be friends with Jehovah. And trust fully in God's protection when Gog de Magog attacks us.
15. What past experiences taught David that Jehovah would never fail him?
He often leaned on his God, and God never failed him. As a young man, David faced a giant Philistine warrior named Goliath and told him, "Today the Lord will deliver you into my hands."

He had already felt the protection of Jehovah as when he faced Goliath. Or when Jehovah protected him from the hands of Saul who wanted to kill him several times.

Some brothers who are in full-time service can tell how Jehovah helped them when they needed him most. Jehovah is faithful.

When we request time off to go to an assembly, meetings, or preach more. If our request is rejected and we lose our job, do we have faith that Jehovah will never leave us and will never forsake us, and that he will always provide us with the necessary things?

The Governing Body has chosen Psalm 34:10 to be the text of the year 2022: “Those who seek Jehovah will not lack anything good”, because being by Jehovah's side we will not lack anything, and he will never abandon us.

Looking at similar words found in Psalm 23 will help us understand. In the rest of this psalm, David mentions the things that are really important—the abundant spiritual blessings he enjoys because Jehovah is his Shepherd.
