This is how God's love was revealed in our case: God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that we might gain life through him (1 John 4:9).
Love must be shown by actions (compare James 2:17, 26). For example, Jehovah loves us (1 John 4:19). And he expresses his love for us with beautiful words in the Bible (Ps. 25:10; Rom. 8:38, 39). However, we know that he loves us not only because of what he says, but also because of what he does. Jehovah allowed his beloved Son to suffer and die for us (John 3:16). So we are convinced that he loves us. We show that we love Jehovah and Jesus by obeying them (John 14:15; 1 John 5:3). And Jesus commanded us to love one another (John 13:34, 35). We must express that love to our brothers not only with words, but also with actions (1 John 3:18). w21.01 9 para. 6; 10 para. 8
What should householders remember?
Of course, one important way a head shows that he loves his family is by providing for their material needs (1 Tim. 5:8). But he must never forget that the most important thing is that he attends to his spiritual needs (Matt. 5:3). Let's look at the example of Jesus. According to the Gospel of John, while Jesus was on the tree, he kept thinking about his family. John and the mother of Jesus, Mary, were at the place of execution. Jesus, despite her intense suffering, commissioned John to take care of her (John 19:26, 27). Mary had other children who would no doubt provide for her material needs, but apparently none of them had yet become a disciple of Jesus. So he made sure that his mother was well taken care of both physically and spiritually.
What responsibilities did John have?
John had many responsibilities. Since he was an apostle, he had to set an example in preaching. And besides, it's possible he was married. In such a case, he would have to take care of his family in a material but also a spiritual sense (1 Cor. 9:5). What can householders learn from him?
Why is it important for heads to care for the spiritual needs of their families?
Heads of households may also have several important responsibilities. For example, they must be good workers for their conduct to speak well of Jehovah.—Eph. 6:5, 6; Titus 2:9, 10. And they may have responsibilities in the congregation, such as shepherding the brothers and being good examples in preaching. But it is also your responsibility to study the Bible regularly with your wife and his children. Their families will appreciate everything they do to care for them physically, emotionally, and spiritually (Eph. 5:28, 29; 6:4).
