If you, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, with much more reason the Father in heaven will give holy spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13).

The active force of God is a treasure that we must value highly. We can feel more gratitude for the holy spirit if we reflect on what he is accomplishing today. Before going up to heaven, Jesus told his disciples: “You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you. And they shall be my witnesses . . . to the most distant part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Supported by the holy spirit, more than 8.5 million people from all corners of the globe have chosen to serve Jehovah. Furthermore, we are in a spiritual paradise, as the holy spirit helps us to cultivate beautiful qualities that are part of the “fruit of the spirit”, such as love, happiness, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith , mildness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22, 23). Without a doubt, the holy spirit is a gift of great value. w20. 05 28 para. 10; 29 para. 13

How can we show gratitude for the gift of prayer?

How can we show gratitude for the precious gift of prayer? For example, following this advice from God: “Pray constantly” (1 Thess. 5:17). Jehovah does not force us to pray. Rather, he respects our freedom of choice and asks us to “continue in prayer” (Rom. 12:12). So we can show our gratitude by praying many times during the day. Of course, when we pray, let us not forget to thank and praise him (Ps. 145:2, 3).

The longer we have been serving Jehovah and seeing how he answers our prayers, the more appreciation we should have for prayer. Consider what Chris, a brother who has been serving full time for 47 years, said: “I love getting up early and spending some time quietly praying to Jehovah. It is wonderful to talk with him while the first rays of the sun are reflected in the dew drops. When I do this, it makes me want to thank Jehovah for all his gifts, not forgetting the honor of praying. And at the end of the day, after saying a prayer, it's nice to go to sleep with a clear conscience."
