Salvation we owe to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb! (Rev. 7:10).
The anointed and the other sheep are just as important to God. He feels the same love for both groups. In the end, he paid the same price—the life of his dear Son—to purchase both the anointed and the other sheep. The only difference between the two groups is that they have different hopes, but both have to be loyal to God and to Christ (Ps. 31:23). And let's not forget that God can make his spirit act with the same force on all his servants. Jehovah can give his spirit to each person according to what he needs, regardless of whether he is anointed or the other sheep. Jehovah has given each of his dedicated servants a wonderful hope (Jer. 29:11). The Memorial of Christ's death gives us all a golden opportunity to praise God and Christ for what they have done so that we can live forever. Without question, the Memorial is the most important gathering of the year for true Christians. w21.01 18 para. 16; 19 para. 19
Why should we all attend the Memorial of Christ's death?
In recent years, for every 1,000 Memorial attendees, about one partakes of the bread and wine. That is, in most congregations no one participates. Most of those who attend the Memorial hope to live on Earth. So why do they go? For the same reason many people go to a friend's wedding. They do it because they want to show their love and support for the couple getting married. Similarly, those of the other sheep attend the Memorial because they want to demonstrate their love and support for Christ and the anointed. In addition, in this way they show their gratitude for the sacrifice of Jesus, which makes it possible for them to live forever on Earth.
Another important reason the other sheep attend the Memorial is to obey Jesus' command. When he instituted this supper with his faithful apostles, he told them, “Keep doing this in remembrance of me” (1 Cor. 11:23-26). So the other sheep will continue to attend the Lord's Supper as long as there are anointed ones on Earth. In addition, they invite everyone to accompany them on this special occasion.
How can each of us praise God and Christ at the Memorial?
At the Memorial, we will have the opportunity to praise God and Christ by singing and praying together. This year's talk is entitled: "Show Gratitude for What God and Christ Have Done for Us." Listening to him will make us feel more grateful to Jehovah and to Christ. While the symbols are passed, the attendees will be able to remember what they represent: the body and blood of Jesus. We will also remember that Jehovah allowed his Son to die for us so that we might have life (Matt. 20:28). Everyone who loves our heavenly Father and his Son will attend the Memorial.
