Christ was raised from the dead (1 Cor. 15:12).
Faith in the resurrection of Jesus is the pillar that supports our Christian hope. The apostle Paul began his discussion of the resurrection by highlighting three facts: "that Christ died for our sins," "that he was buried," and "that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Cor. 15:3, 4 ). What do the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus mean to us? The prophet Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would be "banished from the land of the living" and given "a grave together with the wicked." But he added something else: that he would bear "the sins of many people." How did Jesus do this? Giving his life as a ransom (Is. 53: 8, 9, 12; Matt. 20:28; Rom. 5: 8). What is the key to our hope that our loved ones will be resurrected?
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the key to our hope that our loved ones can be resurrected. It was part of “the good news” that Paul announced to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 15:1, 2). In fact, he told them that if they did not believe that Christ was resurrected, his faith would be useless (1 Cor. 15:17). It is clear that faith in the resurrection of Jesus is the pillar that supports our Christian hope.
What do the words at 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4 mean to us?
