Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

O Jehovah, your name lasts forever (Ps. 135:13).

Adam and Eve knew the name of Jehovah, in addition to other very important truths about him, such as that he was the Creator and that he gave them life, a beautiful Paradise to live in, and a perfect mate (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:18). However, would they continue to meditate on all that Jehovah had done for them? Would they continue to strengthen their love and appreciation for him? The answers became clear when God's enemy put them to the test. Using a snake, Satan asked Eve: “Did God really tell you that you cannot eat from all the trees in the garden?” (Gen. 2:16, 17; 3:1). He poisoned the question with a subtle lie. What God had said was that they could eat from all the trees except one (Gen. 2:9). Satan implied that God was not generous. Eve may have wondered if God was denying her something good. w20.06 3 paras. 8, 9.

How does Ezekiel 36:23 highlight the main message of the Bible?

Did Jehovah tolerate being slandered without defending himself? Of course not. The entire Bible explains what Jehovah has done to prove that what Satan said in the Garden of Eden was a lie (Gen. 3:15). In fact, the main message of the Bible can be summed up this way: Through the Kingdom in the hands of his Son, Jehovah sanctifies his name and restores peace and justice to the earth. The Bible contains information that helps us understand how Jehovah sanctifies his name (read Ezekiel 36:23).

How has Jehovah hallowed his name by his response to the rebellion in the Garden of Eden?

Satan has tried in every way to prevent Jehovah from fulfilling his purpose, but he has failed again and again. The Bible indicates Jehovah's way of acting and shows that there is no one like him. It is true that the rebellion of Satan and all those who have sided with him has caused Jehovah much pain.—Ps. 78:40. But he has handled the situation with wisdom, patience and justice. He has also demonstrated his infinite power in so many ways. And, above all, his love is evident in everything he does (1 John 4: 8). Jehovah has never stopped working to sanctify his name.
