During that time your people will be saved, everyone who is written down in the book (Dan. 12:1).

Both Daniel and John confirm that those who serve Jehovah and Jesus will survive this time of unprecedented trouble. For this reason, we can look to the future with confidence. Daniel says that the names of the survivors will be "written down in the book." What do we have to do so that our name is there? We must show that we have faith in Jesus, the Lamb of God (John 1:29). We have to dedicate ourselves to God and be baptized (1 Pet. 3:21). Furthermore, we need to support God's Kingdom by doing everything we can to help others come to know Jehovah. Now is the time to strengthen our confidence in Jehovah and in his organization. Now is the time to support the Kingdom of God. If we do, we will be saved when the Kingdom of God ends the king of the north and the king of the south. w20.05 16 paras. 18, 19.

What does the prophecy of Daniel 2:43-45 indicate? (See cover drawing.)

(Read Daniel 2:43-45). The prophet Daniel speaks of a huge statue that is made of different metals. Each part of the statue represents a human government that has had an impact on God's people. The feet of iron and clay symbolize the last of these governments: the alliance of Great Britain and the United States. The prophecy indicates that this world power will still exist when the Kingdom of God destroys the governments of the Earth.

What does the seventh head of the wild beast represent, and why is this an important detail?

The apostle John also speaks of a series of world powers that have had an effect on Jehovah's people. His prophecy represents them as a wild beast with seven heads. The seventh head of the beast is the world power of Great Britain and the United States. It is an important detail, because there are no more heads after this one. The seventh head will still be ruling when Christ and his heavenly armies destroy it along with the rest of the beast (Rev. 13:1, 2; 17:13, 14).
