If we look at how God created the Earth, we clearly see his wisdom (Heb. 3:4). The Earth is special because only on it are the necessary conditions for human beings to live. It could be said that the Earth is like a ship full of passengers that floats through the immensity of the universe. But there are big differences between a ship and our planet. For example, how long could passengers on a ship survive if they had to produce their own oxygen, food, and water, and if they couldn't throw their waste overboard? Wouldn't they die soon? In contrast, billions of living things live on Earth. Our planet produces all the oxygen, food, and water we need. And these essential resources for life are never exhausted. In addition, the waste is not launched into space. With everything, Earth is still beautiful and habitable. How is all this possible? Why can we say that our brain is an engineering marvel?
The human brain is an engineering marvel. When we were in our mother's womb, our brains were formed according to a predefined design. And thousands of new brain cells appeared every minute! Researchers estimate that the adult brain has about 100 billion neurons, which are a special type of cell. These are perfectly packed in an organ that weighs only 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds). Let's look at some of the amazing faculties that our brain possesses.
What convinces you that our ability to speak is a gift from God?
Our ability to speak is a true miracle. Let's think for a moment about everything that happens in our body when we speak. To utter a single word, the brain has to coordinate the movements of about a hundred muscles in the tongue, throat, lips, jaw, and chest. All of these muscles have to move in a specific order for words to be understood. As for our ability to speak languages, a study published in 2019 revealed that newborns can already distinguish single words. This discovery confirms what many researchers believe: that we are born with the ability to identify and learn languages. Without a doubt, our ability to speak is a gift from God (Ex. 4:11).
How can we show that we appreciate the ability to speak?
One way to show that we appreciate the ability to speak is to use it to explain to those who believe in evolution why we believe that God created all things (Ps. 9:1; 1 Pet. 3:15). Those who promote the teaching of evolution want us to believe that the Earth and life are not by design. We can use the Bible and some ideas in this article to defend our heavenly Father and explain to those who want to listen why we are convinced that Jehovah is the Creator of heaven and earth (Ps. 102:25; Isa. 40:25 , 26).
