The true friend loves at all times (Prov. 17:17).

Jehovah wants us to have a good time in the company of our friends and family (Ps. 133:1). In fact, Jesus had good friends (John 15:15). Furthermore, the Bible speaks of the benefits of having true friends (Prov. 18:24). And it also tells us not to isolate ourselves (Prov. 18:1). Many believe that social networks serve to have a large number of friends and not to feel alone. But, if we use them, we must be careful. According to some studies, those who spend a lot of time looking at the comments and photos that others post on social networks can end up feeling lonely and depressed. Why? One possible cause is that most people upload photos of the most interesting moments of their lives: the best images of themselves, their friends and the exciting places they have visited. Viewers of these images may conclude that their lives are very ordinary and even boring by comparison. w20.07 5, 6 paras. 12, 13

What attitude should a brother have if he receives a responsibility?

For us, it is an honor to serve Jehovah to the best of our ability (Ps. 27:4; 84:10). It is good for a brother to want to do more in Jehovah's organization. In fact, the Bible says: “If a man is striving to be an overseer, he wants a very good job” (1 Tim. 3:1). But, if he is given a responsibility, it should not go to his head (Luke 17:7-10). His goal should be to serve others with humility (2 Cor. 12:15).

What do we learn from the example of Diotrephes, Uzziah, and Absalom?

The Bible speaks of people who thought they were very important. For example, Diotrephes lacked modesty and liked to "come first" in the congregation (3 John 9). Uzziah showed that he was proud when he tried to do a job that Jehovah had not given him (2 Chron. 26: 16-21). Cunningly, Absalom tried to endear himself to the people because he wanted to be king (2 Sam. 15:2-6). As these Bible accounts clearly show, Jehovah dislikes people who seek his own glory.—Prov. 25:27. Those who are carried away by pride and ambition end very badly (Prov. 16:18).
