His adversary, the Devil, walks around him like a roaring lion trying to devour someone (1 Pet. 5:8).
A mother may sometimes wonder whether her children will make the decision to serve Jehovah. After all, parents know very well that their children face many pressures in Satan's world. As if this were not enough, many mothers have the difficulty of raising their children without a husband or with a husband who does not serve Jehovah. Now, reaching the heart of a child to become a faithful servant of Jehovah is not a challenge only for parents who are alone in the truth. It is also a challenge when both serve Jehovah. If you are alone in the truth, you have no reason to worry. Jehovah is there to help you. Talk to other parents to see how they use the tools the organization provides in family worship (Prov. 11:14). Also, ask Jehovah to help you communicate well with your children to know what they really think and feel. (Prov. 20:5) w22.04 17 paras. 4, 7; 18 para. 9.
What else can you do to help your children know Jehovah?Look for opportunities to teach your children about Jehovah. Tell them about Jehovah and all the good things he has done for you (Deut. 6:6, 7; Isa. 63:7). This is especially important if you cannot study with your children at home. Christine, mentioned in paragraph 4, says: “Because I had so few opportunities to talk about spiritual things with my children, I took advantage of any time I could. We would go for a walk or we would all get into a canoe and go a little further from the shore to talk about Jehovah's precious creation and many spiritual matters. When my children were old enough, I encouraged them to study the Bible on their own.” Also, speak well of Jehovah's organization and the brothers. Don't criticize the elderly. What you say about them can give your children the confidence to come to you when they need it.
According to James 3:18, why is it important to foster peace at home?
Promote peace at home. Make a habit of expressing your affection to your husband and her children. Speak about her husband with kindness and respect, and teach your children to do the same. This will help create a peaceful environment where it will be easier to learn from Jehovah. (Read James 3:18.) Let us look at the case of Jozsef, a special pioneer serving in Romania. When he was little, his father objected to his mother, his brothers, and him serving Jehovah. Jozsef explains: “My mother did everything possible to make sure there was peace in the house. The nastier my father was, the kinder she was. When he saw that we were having trouble respecting and obeying our father, she analyzed Ephesians 6:1-3 with us. Then he would tell us about Dad's good qualities and help us understand why we should respect him. Thus she managed to calm the mood in the house many times.
Considering what 2 Timothy 1:5 says, what effect did Eunice's example have on Timothy?
(Read 2 Timothy 1:5). Eunice set a good example for Timothy. She surely taught him that true faith is demonstrated by works (James 2:26). There is no doubt that Timothy saw that his mother's actions were the result of his deep love for Jehovah. He must have also noticed that serving Jehovah made her happy. What effect did Eunice's example have on him? As the apostle Paul mentioned, Timothy had a faith like his mother's. And it wasn't by chance. He had noticed her example and wanted to copy it. Similarly, many mothers have touched the hearts of their family members “without a word” (1 Pet. 3:1, 2). You can do it too. As?
Why should a mother put her friendship with Jehovah first?
Put your friendship with Jehovah first (Deut. 6:5, 6). Like most mothers, you surely give up many things to care for your children's physical needs. For example, she is willing to sacrifice her time, money and rest. But you should never be so busy that you neglect your friendship with Jehovah. Make time for private prayer, personal Bible study, and going to meetings. In this way, you will strengthen your friendship with Jehovah and set a good example for your family and others.
