Make Disciples (5 mins.) lff lesson 16 introduction and points 1-3 (lmd lesson 11 point 3).
Teacher: Sofia, please read the introductory paragraph to see why it is so important to analyze this lesson.
Sofia: Usually when people think of Jesus, they only see him as a helpless baby, a wise prophet, or a dying man. But don't you think that if we study his life on Earth more thoroughly we can get to know him better? In this lesson we will analyze some of the most important things that Jesus did and what all of this has to do with you.
Teacher: So why is it important to analyze this lesson?
Sofía: It is important because the things that Jesus did when he was on earth also have to do with me. And because when most people think of Jesus they imagine him as a helpless child, as a prophet or as a dying man. But few really know him.
Teacher: That's right. Now please read paragraph 1.
Sofia: There it says: Jesus' main task was to “Announce the good news of the Kingdom of God” to people. He preached the good news that God would establish a kingdom or government that would solve all of humanity's problems. For three and a half years, Jesus dedicated himself completely to giving this positive message.
Teacher: What was Jesus' main work?
Sofia: Jesus' main job was to preach the good news of the Kingdom. He preached that God would establish a kingdom or government that would solve all of humanity's problems.
Teacher: Correct. Now, can you please read Luke 4:43 and say what it teaches you.
Sofia: There it says: But he said to them: “I also have to announce the good news of the Kingdom of God to other cities, because that is why I was sent.” The text makes it clear that Jehovah sent Jesus to preach and teach the good news of the Kingdom and therefore, this work was the most important thing for him.
Teacher: And according to Matthew 99:35, how did he do it?
Sofia: Jesus preached in both cities and villages. He also taught in synagogues and performed miracles curing all kinds of diseases.
Teacher: Excellent. Please read paragraph 2.
Sofia: The Bible recounts many “powerful works, impressive things and miracles that God did through him (Jesus).” Thanks to the power of God, Jesus managed to calm a storm, feed thousands, heal the sick and even bring some dead people back to life. Jesus' miracles made it clear that God had sent him. Furthermore, they demonstrated that Jehovah has the power to solve all our problems.
Teacher: What were Jesus' miracles for?
Sofia: Jesus' miracles served to make it clear that God had sent him. Furthermore, they demonstrated that Jehovah has the power to solve all our problems. Miracles were performed by Jehovah through Jesus to demonstrate his power and what his Kingdom will do for humanity. For example, there will no longer be disease, hunger or natural disasters. Furthermore, they were also a demonstration that Jesus had Jehovah's approval.
Teacher: Excellent answer. Congratulations! Now please read paragraph 3.
Sofia: Jesus obeyed Jehovah at all times. He was faithful until death and did what his Father had asked him to do even though many tried to prevent him. He showed that human beings can serve God even if we go through difficult situations. In this way, Jesus “set an example” for his followers “so that they would faithfully follow in his footsteps.”
Teacher: What does the type of life that Jesus led teach us?
Sofia: It shows us that Jesus was obedient and faithful until death. He did everything his Father asked of him even though many tried to stop him. It also shows us that human beings can serve Jehovah faithfully and obediently even if we go through difficult situations.
Teacher: Read John:29 and then answer. How did Jehovah act with Jesus when he saw his obedience, faithfulness, and dedication in fulfilling the commission he entrusted to him?
Sofia: There it says: “And the one who sent me is with me, he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.” Jehovah was happy with Jesus and that is why he never abandoned him.
Teacher: And according to 1 Peter 2:21, what does Jesus want all his followers or disciples to do?
Sofía: Let's follow in his footsteps. That is, let us imitate his example faithfully.
Teacher: Correct. Now let's continue to see how we can do that.
