Let sexual immorality and any kind of impurity not even be mentioned among you (Eph. 5:3).
We must be very careful not to do anything that would lead us to “participate in the unfruitful works of darkness” (Eph. 5:11). It has been proven that when a person continues to watch, listen to, or talk about dirty and immoral things, he will most likely end up committing a sin (Gen. 3:6; James 1:14, 15). A classic trick of Satan is to confuse people so that they do not know whether something is right or wrong (Is. 5:20; 2 Cor. 4:4). This world tries to make us believe that there is nothing wrong with the things that Jehovah says are dirty and immoral (2 Pet. 2:19). No wonder so many movies, television shows, and websites promote ideas that go against Jehovah's righteous standards. The Devil wants us to think that the immoral practices and lifestyles that are so fashionable in the world are harmless (Eph. 5:6). w24.03 22 paras. 8-10.
According to Ephesians 5:3-5, what did the Ephesians have to avoid?
(Read Ephesians 5:3-5). In order to stay as far away from moral darkness as possible, the Ephesian Christians had to continue to reject practices that were displeasing to Jehovah. This not only included sexual immorality, but also obscene words. Paul reminded them that they had to avoid all of these things if they wanted to inherit “the Kingdom of Christ and of God.”
Why should we avoid any contact with immoral things?
We too must be very careful not to do anything that would lead us to “participate in the unfruitful works of darkness” (Eph. 5:11). It is more than proven that when a person continues to watch, listen to, or talk about dirty and immoral things, he will most likely end up committing a sin (Gen. 3:6; James 1:14, 15). For example, in a certain country a large number of Witnesses created a group to send messages to each other on a social network. At first, many of them talked about spiritual things. But little by little the conversations began to go the other way, until there came a point where they almost only talked about sex. Later, many admitted that those dirty conversations led them to fall into sexual immorality.
What is Satan trying to achieve? (Ephesians 5:6).
A classic trick of Satan is to confuse people so that they do not know whether something is right or wrong (Is. 5:20; 2 Cor. 4:4). So we are not surprised that this world tries to make us believe that there is nothing wrong with the things that Jehovah says are dirty and immoral (2 Pet. 2:19). No wonder so many movies, television shows, and websites promote ideas that go against Jehovah's righteous standards. The Devil wants us to think that the immoral practices and lifestyles that are so fashionable in the world are not only acceptable, but also fun and harmless (read Ephesians 5:6).

Satan wants us to associate with people who make it difficult for us to obey Jehovah's standards. Therefore, Paul advised the Ephesians to avoid those who practiced evil things. He told them: “Do not be his accomplices” (Eph. 5:7). We must be even more careful than the Ephesians. Because? Because today there is not only the possibility of spending time with others in person, but also on social networks.
A sister from Asia named Angelaa explains how she discovered how dangerous social media can be: "It can cloud your mind little by little, without you realizing it. I got to a point where I didn't mind having 'friends' who didn't respect Bible principles. Eventually I began to think that it wasn't so bad to live a life that was displeasing to Jehovah." It's good that the elders lovingly helped her make the changes she needed! She says: “Now I no longer fill my head with social networks, but with spiritual things.”
