Jehovah will not leave them nor forsake them (Deut. 31:6).
We can have a steadfast heart in the face of any trial that comes our way. So let us trust in Jehovah. Think of Judge Barak and how well he did for following Jehovah’s instructions without question. At that time, the Israelites were unprepared for battle. They had neither a shield nor a spear. Still, Jehovah told Barak to go and fight against Sisera and his Canaanite army, who were armed to the teeth. (Judges 5:8) The prophetess Deborah told Barak to go down from Mount Tabor to the plain to confront Sisera and his 900 chariots. Although chariots would have the advantage on flat ground, Barak obeyed. As the soldiers were coming down from the mountain, Jehovah sent a torrential downpour. The chariots became mired in the mud, and Jehovah gave Barak the victory. (Judges 4:1–7, 10, 13–16) The same can be said of us: Jehovah will give us victory if we trust in him and follow the instructions he gives us through his organization. w23.07 19 pars. 17, 18.
What can we learn from Bob's experience? (See also the images.)
Bob didn't wait until he was in the hospital to make the decision to stand firm. He had made it long before. First, he wholeheartedly wanted to make Jehovah happy. Second, he studied what the Bible and our publications say about the sanctity of life and blood. Finally, he was convinced that Jehovah would reward him if he followed his standards. Like Bob, we can have a firm heart in the face of any trial that comes our way.

Why do you want to remain firm?
As long as this system exists, we must continue to struggle to stand firm. (1 Tim. 6:11, 12; 2 Pet. 3:17) We must not be shaken by persecution, subtle pressures, human thinking, false reasoning, or distractions. (Eph. 4:14) Let us remain firm and immovable, always determined to love Jehovah and obey his standards. At the same time, we must be reasonable.
