Even though you have never seen him, you love him (1 Pet. 1:8).

Jesus had to confront Satan, who tempted him and even directly tested his loyalty to Jehovah (Matt. 4:1-11). Satan was determined to make Jesus sin so that he would not be able to pay the ransom.

During his ministry, Jesus endured other trials. For example, his enemies persecuted him and threatened to kill him (Luke 4:28, 29; 13:31). He had to deal with the imperfections of his disciples (Mark 9:33, 34). At his death sentence, he was tortured and mocked. Afterward, he was executed as a criminal, and he suffered terribly (Heb. 12:1-3). And when he was about to die, Jehovah withdrew his protection, so he had to endure the final part of the trial alone (Matt. 27:46).

It's clear that Jesus paid a very high price to rescue us. When we think of all the sacrifices Jesus was willing to make for us, our hearts are filled with love for him. w24.01 10, 11 pars. 7-9.

Name some trials that Jesus faced.

While on earth, Jesus obeyed his heavenly Father in everything, even though he faced many trials. As a child, he had to accept the authority of his imperfect human parents even though he was perfect. (Luke 2:51) As a teenager, he may have had to resist pressure from others who wanted him to disobey his parents or stop being faithful to Jehovah. And as an adult, he had to confront Satan, who tempted him and even directly tested his loyalty to Jehovah. (Matt. 4:1-11) Satan was determined to cause Jesus to sin so that he would not be able to pay the ransom.

What was Jehovah willing to sacrifice to rescue us?

What was Jehovah willing to sacrifice so that Jesus could pay the ransom? As we know, there is no closer relationship than the one Jehovah has with his Son (Prov. 8:30). So consider how Jehovah must have felt seeing Jesus go through so many trials here on Earth. It must have pained him greatly to see his Son mistreated, despised, and inflicted with so much suffering.

What example helps us understand how Jehovah must have felt when Jesus was executed?

Those who have lost a child know the indescribable pain of going through that experience. Although we have great faith in the resurrection, that doesn't erase the pain we feel when someone we love dies. This example helps us understand how Jehovah must have felt that day in the year 33, when he saw his beloved Son suffer and die (Matt. 3:17).
