DAILY TEXT, Sunday, September 14, 2025. Be able to comprehend well the breadth, length, height, and depth (Eph. 3:18).

Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025

Sunday, September 14, 2025

Be fully able to comprehend well the width, length, height and depth (Eph. 3:18).

If I were thinking about buying a house, I would surely want to go see it and examine it. We can do the same thing when we read and study the Bible. If we rush through it, we'll only learn the most basic things, "the elementary things of God's holy declarations" (Heb. 5:12). It's much better to do as with the house: examine the "inside" to see all its details. To study the Bible well, it's important to see how the different parts of its message relate to each other. It's not enough to know what we believe; we also need to know why we believe it.

To fully understand God's Word, we must study the deepest biblical truths. The apostle Paul encouraged all Christians to study God's Word diligently so that they would be "able to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth" of the truth. As a result, they would be "rooted and established" in their faith (Eph. 3:14-19). We must do the same.

What is the best way to read and study the Bible?

Imagine you want to buy a house. What would you need to know before making a decision? Would a photo of the front of the house be enough? You'd rather go see it, right? You'd probably want to walk around the outside, inspect every room, and see every nook and cranny. You might even want to look at the floor plans to see how it's built. You'd obviously want to examine the house in all its dimensions.

What can we do to draw closer to Jehovah?

Christians cannot be content with a superficial knowledge of the Bible. We desire to learn “even the deep things of God,” and the Holy Spirit will help us achieve this. (1 Cor. 2:9, 10) Why not set a personal study project that will draw you closer to Jehovah? You have many options. You could investigate how Jehovah showed his love for his servants in ancient times and how that proves he loves you too. You could study the system Jehovah established for Israel to worship him and compare it with the Christian system today. Or you could even take a deep look at the prophecies Jesus fulfilled during his life and ministry on earth.

What topic would you like to research as a personal study project?

Some brothers who are keen Bible students were asked what deeper truths they would like to examine. The box “Topics for Personal Study Projects” contains some of the ideas they mentioned. I'm sure you'll enjoy studying topics like these with the help of the Watch Tower Publications Index and the Study Guide for Jehovah's Witnesses. Such research will strengthen your faith and help you find “the knowledge of God” (Prov. 2:4, 5). Now, let's focus on some deeper Bible truths we can explore.
