If you're in a large congregation and feel like you often miss a comment, you may have thought it best not to raise your hand anymore. But don't give up. Don't settle for just preparing one comment. That way, if you can't respond in the first few paragraphs, you'll be able to do so throughout the article.
When preparing for the Watchtower Study, think about how each paragraph relates to the article's topic. That way you'll always have something to contribute. Another thing you could do is prepare to comment on the paragraphs that address deeper biblical truths. Because they're harder to explain, there are usually fewer hands in those paragraphs. But what if you still haven't commented after several meetings? Talk to the brother leading the study and tell him what question you'd like to answer. w23.04 21, 22 pars. 9, 10.
What situation might arise in a large congregation?
If your congregation has many publishers, you may face a different situation. You may often be left without commenting because there are many members who want to respond.
Consider Danielle, a sister who has always loved to comment at meetings. Commenting is very important to her because she considers it part of her worship of Jehovah, a way to encourage others, and a way to impress Bible truths on her mind.
But when she began serving in a larger congregation, she didn't get as much feedback, sometimes not even one at all. She says, "I felt frustrated. I felt like I had lost a privilege. When you don't get feedback many times, you start to think they're doing it on purpose."
According to Philippians 2:4, What can we do?
(Read Philippians 2:4.) Inspired by God, the apostle Paul encouraged Christians to look out for the interests of others. How can we put this advice into practice in meetings? By remembering that others want to comment, too.
What is a good way to make others feel encouraged in meetings?
Let's give an example to help us understand this. Isn't it true that when you talk with your friends, you don't do all the talking, but rather let them express themselves? Something similar happens in our meetings. We want as many brothers and sisters as possible to share their thoughts. In fact, one of the best ways to encourage our brothers and sisters is to give them the opportunity to express their faith (1 Cor. 10:24). Let's see what we can do to get many of them to share their thoughts.
