APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY: November 17-23, 2025, Explain Your Beliefs: Role-Playing. Topic: Do Jehovah's Witnesses Have Rules About Dating? Lesson 7. Prepared Assignment.
Explain your beliefs (5 mins.) Role-play. ijwfq article 43. Topic: Do Jehovah's Witnesses have rules about dating? (th lesson 7).
Assistant: I've noticed that you Jehovah's Witnesses have a particular view of dating. Can you tell me more about it?
Publisher: Absolutely. As Jehovah's Witnesses, the Bible gives us guidelines for making wise decisions regarding dating.
For example, at Isaiah 48:17, 18, we are told: “This is what Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: ‘I, Jehovah, am your God, the one who teaches you for your own good, the one who directs you in the way you should walk. 18 If only you would pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.’”
The text is clear. God teaches us what is good for us. What do you think that means in relation to our personal decisions?
Assistant: Well, I suppose it means we should try to do what God wants. It makes sense to think that if God created us, He knows what's best for everyone.
Publisher: Exactly. And if we want to do what God wants, we must consider whether our decisions are in line with His teachings. For example, if someone wants to build a house, what should they do before starting construction?
Assistant: I suppose you should make a plan and consider the materials and resources you need.
Publisher: That's right. Similarly, when it comes to relationships, we must carefully consider our decisions and make sure we are fulfilling God's will.
The Bible also says in Matthew 19:6, the following: "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
So, marriage is a permanent union. What do you think that means for someone considering getting married?
Assistant: It means it's a very serious decision and should be made with great care.
Publisher: Absolutely. The decision to get married is one of the most important we make in life, and we must ensure that we are choosing someone who shares our values and beliefs.
