“You have rescued me, O Jehovah, the God of truth” (Ps. 31:5).
1. According to Psalm 31:2-5, why can we trust in Jehovah?
We can trust Jehovah because, living in Satan’s world, it can sometimes be difficult to know whom to trust. However, Jehovah is very different. He is “the God of truth,” and truth is an essential part of his personality, reflected in everything he says and does. That is why he is completely trustworthy, and we can always rely on him fully.

Because Jehovah is the God of truth, and in a world where lies and deceit are commonplace, we can be completely certain that he is always worthy of our total trust.
As the paragraph clearly states, truth is an essential part of Jehovah's personality. In other words, truth is part of who he is.
Psalm 31:3 says that, for his name’s sake, he will guide us. Jehovah’s name is a guarantee that strengthens our confidence in the fulfillment of his promises. We know that his name means he can become whatever is necessary to accomplish his purposes and that he can make his creation become whatever is needed to achieve them. Therefore, his name also assures us that he always keeps his promises.
2. What will we see in this article?
In this article, we will see what “the God of truth” will do to destroy Satan and his wicked world, and what he is doing today to accomplish his purpose. We will also consider some reasons why we can trust Jehovah with all our heart. In this way, we can be courageous and speak the truth without fear.

Let us consider some reasons why we can trust Jehovah with all our heart. Then we will see what the God of truth will do to destroy Satan and his wicked world, and what he is doing today to accomplish his purpose.
When we have complete trust in a friend, we speak of him without hesitation and rely on him wholeheartedly. And what better friend could there be than Jehovah? If we are convinced that Jehovah is the God of truth, we will be courageous in speaking about him to anyone willing to listen.
REASONS TO TRUST IN THE GOD OF TRUTH
3. Why can we trust Jehovah completely?
We can trust Jehovah completely because he is the Creator of everything. He made the heavens, the earth, and all living things. Moreover, he created the earth with the resources necessary for life to be sustained on it.
Jehovah has absolute control over his creation, and nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his purposes. Because he possesses infinite wisdom and power, we can place our lives and our future in his hands with complete confidence.

Because he is our Creator. Revelation 4:11 summarizes this idea well when it says: “Jehovah, you deserve to receive glory, honor, and power, because you created all things.” For this reason, he deserves our worship and our trust, since he is our Creator.
Even the way creation is designed gives us confidence in him. As the paragraph says: “The earth has been designed with sufficient resources for humans to live on it forever.” This reveals that creation is in harmony with its original purpose and that Jehovah is in control of everything.
What it says at the end of the paragraph is beautiful: Jehovah is very wise and has infinite power, so we can put our lives and our future in his hands with complete confidence. There is no other god who has infinite power like Jehovah.
As Psalm 36:9 says: “In you is the fountain of life; thanks to your light we can see light.” These words help us appreciate Jehovah’s power and guidance. Therefore, we should strive to follow his teachings and continue moving forward with his people.
4. How do we know that Jehovah loves us?
We know that Jehovah loves us because he created humans to share with them the wonderful gift of life. Furthermore, he made us in his image and likeness, gave us freedom of choice, and provided us with a beautiful home in which to live.
He also entrusted Adam and Eve with the exciting task of expanding Paradise and allowed them to enjoy everything on Earth. All of this demonstrates Jehovah’s great love for mankind and confirms that his loyal love endures forever for those who fear him, as Psalm 103:17 points out.

Jehovah’s love is reflected in the fact that he created us in his image and gave us a life with a true purpose. He was not obligated to create us, but he wanted to share the gift of life with us.
Jehovah created humans because he wanted to share many things with them. He gave Adam and Eve the exciting task of spreading Paradise across the earth. How wonderful it is that he has given us the gift of life!
We have many reasons to believe that Jehovah loves us, and both the paragraph and the Bible texts confirm that he really does love us.
Related to what Genesis 1 says about Jehovah making us in his image and likeness, a brother commented in a talk that it is as if we were made of little “pieces” of Jehovah. By this he meant that Jehovah has given us the ability to reflect his qualities. He has endowed us with mental capacities superior to those of animals and did not create us as robots. He likes variety and that each person is different. Even so, he has made us in such a way that all of us, despite our differences, can enjoy the gift of life.
A very interesting idea that helps us to better understand why Jehovah created us out of love is found at Psalm 103:17. It says: “Jehovah’s loyal love for those who fear him is for all eternity.” This shows us that Jehovah created us out of love and that he desires to enjoy a close relationship with his servants forever. In response to that love, we can show him our appreciation and gratitude for giving us life. Furthermore, he promises that his loyal love will accompany us for all eternity.
5. a) How did Jehovah keep his word even though Adam and Eve sinned?
Jehovah kept his word because, although Adam and Eve rebelled and were condemned to death, his purpose for the earth did not change. He wanted the earth to be filled with righteous people, and nothing could prevent that purpose from being fulfilled. That is why he allowed Adam and Eve to have children and sent Jesus to rescue their descendants, giving them the opportunity to live forever.

Jehovah allowed Adam and Eve to have children and, moreover, he did something wonderful, as John 3:16 mentions: he sent his Son to rescue us and make it possible for Adam’s descendants to have a wonderful hope. Although this involved a great sacrifice for him, he did it because he loves us and because he always keeps his word.
The fact that Adam and Eve sinned does not mean that Jehovah created people who would not worship him; rather, quite the opposite is true. Although they sinned, that did not change Jehovah’s purpose for the earth. He created it to be inhabited, and his purpose did not end there. Jehovah gave mankind a hope for the future and has continued to fulfill what he promises through his Word.
At Isaiah 46:10, 11, Jehovah states: “From the beginning I foretell the end. [...] My decision will stand, and I will do whatever I want. [...] I have said it and I will do it. I have purposed it and I will accomplish it.” This helps us to understand that even when obstacles arise, Jehovah’s purpose does not change.
We can compare it to a car trip: if an obstacle appears in the road, an alternate route can be taken, but the destination remains the same. Similarly, Jehovah’s purpose will be fulfilled without fail, even though he has had to make certain adjustments to correct the consequences of Satan’s rebellion and Adam and Eve’s sin.
5. b) What are some promises that Jehovah has kept? (See the box “Jehovah Is Faithful to His Word”).
Jehovah has repeatedly shown that he keeps his promises. For example, he fulfilled his purpose of having the earth inhabited. He also sent Jesus, just as he had promised, and provided the ransom to give mankind the wonderful opportunity to live forever. These examples confirm that Jehovah has kept and will continue to keep his promises, and that we can have complete confidence in them.

One of the many promises that Jehovah fulfilled was the one he made to Moses. Jehovah saw the suffering of his people in Egypt and promised to free them from slavery and lead them to a land flowing with milk and honey. In time, that promise came true, and Moses had the privilege of leading the people during their exodus from Egypt to that land.
Jehovah promised that the Messiah would come and that he would free mankind from sin and death.
There is also the promise that the good news will be preached throughout the earth. This promise is very beautiful because we all have a small part to play in its fulfillment. By sharing in the preaching work, we cooperate with Jehovah to make this promise a reality.
In Matthew 24:45, Jesus promised that there would be a faithful and wise slave who would provide spiritual food. This promise has been fulfilled, and we see it clearly today; in fact, it has been fulfilled beyond measure.
There are also the numerous prophecies that were fulfilled in the Messiah, from his birth to everything he would do in detail, even his death. There weren't just one or two, but many, as we well know.
Three reasons to trust in the God of truth are that He is our Creator, that He loves us, and that He always keeps His word.
The God of Truth makes sure His purpose is fulfilled.
6. What did Jehovah foretell after the rebellion in Eden?
After the rebellion in Eden, Jehovah foretold that Satan would be destroyed. He also indicated that, before that time came, many people would follow Satan and act like him. However, there would be others who would remain faithful to Jehovah and obey him. This prophecy demonstrates that Jehovah is in control of everything and that evil will not last forever.

Jehovah foretold, immediately after the rebellion in Eden, that Satan would be destroyed. In Genesis 3:15, he showed that there would be a struggle between his faithful servants and Satan’s followers. However, he also made it clear that, ultimately, the promised offspring would be victorious.
Jehovah foretold that many people would follow Satan, just as has happened, but he also foretold that there would be millions of people who would faithfully obey Jehovah.
The Bible does not mention the name of the one who posed this challenge, but it does give him two titles: Devil, which means “slanderer”, and Satan, which means “opponent”.
7. Who follows the Devil, and what awaits them?
The angels who rebelled against Jehovah and disobedient humans follow the Devil. Like Satan, they oppose God’s purpose, and thus they are part of his “offspring.” However, Jehovah has set a time when he will destroy Satan and all his followers.

What awaits the Devil and his followers is revealed in Romans 16:20, where it says that Satan will soon be crushed. This also includes demons and the disobedient humans who follow him.
The prophecy at Daniel 2:44 says that God’s Kingdom will shatter and put an end to all those kingdoms. In this way, what Jehovah has promised will be fulfilled.
8. What did Jesus do in 1914? (See also the pictures).
In 1914, Jehovah appointed Jesus as King, and Jesus began fighting against Satan and his demons. As a result, Satan and the demons were expelled from heaven and hurled down to earth. Since then, Satan has focused his efforts on gaining as many followers as possible, which has led to an increase in wickedness and a worsening of the world situation.

In that year, Jehovah appointed Jesus as king in heaven, and then a war broke out against Satan and his demons, who were hurled down to the earth. Since then, conditions on earth have gone from bad to worse.
How much confidence Revelation 6:2 gives us, where we see that very soon Jesus will finish what he began in 1914. The way it expresses this is very encouraging, saying that he went out conquering and completing his victory; that is, it is already confirmed. This gives us complete confidence that Jesus will accomplish it.
Ezekiel 38:23 states: “I will surely magnify myself, I will sanctify myself, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.” So that is what Jehovah will do: He will vindicate his holy name. Then it will be clear that he is the God of truth, and everyone will know who the God of truth is—Jehovah.
The illustration aligns well with Revelation 12:12, which says: “Woe to the earth!” Since 1914, Satan has been on earth wreaking havoc and, above all, filled with fury because he knows his time is short. However, we can face this with confidence, since we also know that Jesus will soon complete his victory.
Although this war took place in heaven, its effects are more than evident on Earth. Since 1914, Satan has focused his efforts on getting as many people as possible to follow him.
All the situations presented in this paragraph show us what has happened in heaven and on earth during this time. Then, at the end, it says that Jesus will put an end to all of this and sanctify Jehovah's name. This will make it clear that Jehovah is the God of truth, because he will fulfill all his promises.
Psalm 45:4 begins by saying, “In your splendor, ride forth to victory; ride forth in truth, humility, and justice.” It is speaking of Jesus Christ, who would emerge victorious and continue to conquer. And Psalm 45:6 says that his throne will be forever; the scepter of his kingdom is righteousness. He will judge eternally with justice.
The truth is that Jehovah is the only one who has the right to rule the Earth, so when Jesus does, there will be no doubt that Jehovah is right.
The end of the paragraph indicates that by vindicating Jehovah’s name, it will become clear that he is the God of truth. This reminds us of a line from a dramatization at an assembly: “People need to be told the truth.” And that is precisely what Satan does not want, since he seeks to hide and distort that truth.

9. Whom is Jehovah gathering today?
Today Jehovah is gathering together “the things in the heavens and the things on the earth,” that is, the anointed ones who will rule with Christ in heaven and the people who will live forever in a paradise on earth. All these servants of Jehovah are united in true worship, helping others to know the truth and proving that Satan is a liar.

Ephesians 1:10 speaks of Jehovah gathering all things together in the Christ, both things in the heavens and things on earth. The heavens refer to the anointed ones whom Jehovah has chosen, and the earth to those who will live forever in paradise. Of course, we all keep very busy proclaiming this good news.
10. What is Jehovah doing to free people from religious lies? (Revelation 14:6, 7)
Jehovah is freeing people from religious lies through the greatest preaching campaign in history. Through this worldwide work, he uses humans to carry the message of the good news, and angels also share in this work of gathering sincere people into the congregation.
Through preaching, the lies that Satan has spread through Babylon the Great are being exposed. Soon, false religions will be completely eliminated, and those who love the God of truth will give Him the glory He deserves.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
As Revelation 14:6, 7 indicates, eternal good news is being proclaimed, and Jehovah uses both angels and us to make it known to the whole world. In this way, the lies that Satan has spread through Babylon the Great are exposed.
As the paragraph states, to free people from religious lies, Jehovah has carried out the greatest preaching campaign in history. This reminds us of what we are studying: that Jehovah accomplishes his purposes, and we are experiencing the fulfillment of that purpose.
Right now, we have more languages, tools, and means to preach in more countries than ever before. In all of history, now is the time when the truth is spreading more widely across the Earth.
It is exciting to participate in this work at this time, as we are nearing the end of the destruction of all false religions. Babylon the Great is identified as the origin of many of these lies. Therefore, it is hopeful because we see the fulfillment of this prophecy drawing near.
We know that this is very important to Jehovah because, among other things, he is using his entire family to carry out this preaching campaign. Jesus did this in his time, the angels are guiding us now, and we, people on earth, can also contribute to this work. So, without a doubt, Jehovah has a special interest in the truth being known and in exposing lies so that everyone can know it.
11. How can we identify Jehovah's true servants?
We can identify Jehovah’s true servants by the unity among them and by their conduct. Jehovah gathers people from all cultures, backgrounds, and social conditions who, when they hear “the good news,” realize that they have found the truth and join his people.
In time, the difference between those who serve God and those who do not becomes clear, just as Malachi foretold. True servants of Jehovah demonstrate by their conduct and their preaching that they worship the God of truth.

Malachi 3:18 says that we will be able to see the difference between those who serve God and those who do not. So, through our conduct and our preaching, we, as Jehovah's servants, demonstrate that we worship Jehovah.
Many people are searching for the truth, and when they find it, they recognize it because it is based on the Scriptures. We, as Jehovah's Witnesses, by adhering to the Bible, are quickly identified as servants of the Most High God. We can be identified even though we come from different cultures, backgrounds, or economic levels.
Although it has already been said, it is also important to emphasize: we can be identified by our preaching. Mark 13:10 says that the gospel must be preached first. That is one of our distinguishing marks.
How important are the words at Revelation 7:9, 10! They show that a great crowd from all over the earth would preach the good news. So this is what Jehovah uses: all these people, including us, who are carrying out Jehovah’s purpose of telling people about what he is going to bring to the earth.
Two factors that identify true servants of Jehovah are their preaching and their conduct, in contrast to others. In this way, it becomes clear who serves God and who does not, as well as who is righteous and who is not.
12. How does preaching contribute to the fulfillment of Jehovah's purpose?
Preaching helps Jehovah’s purpose to be fulfilled because, by proclaiming “the good news of the Kingdom,” we obey Jesus’ command and share in the fulfillment of prophecy. Through this work, people worldwide become followers of Jesus and gain the hope of worshipping the God of truth forever. In this way, we cooperate in the fulfillment of Jehovah’s purpose.

Through this preaching we also share in prophecy, because we make disciples, as Matthew 28:18-20 says. We teach them, then they get baptized, and in this way people all over the world become followers of Jesus and worship Jehovah forever. It is a great honor for us to do our part to help Jehovah's purpose be fulfilled.
By preaching the good news of the Kingdom, we obey Jesus’ command and share in the fulfillment of a prophecy, as Matthew 24:14 shows us. It says: “And the good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
If we reflect on this privilege, we realize that Jehovah’s purpose, regardless of our efforts, will be fulfilled. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of Jehovah’s purpose being fulfilled on earth, and sometimes those involved were unaware that they were part of it. However, we do have that awareness, and we can benefit from it by participating more fully in the preaching work and supporting the congregation.
LET'S LOOK TO THE FUTURE WITH CONFIDENCE
13. Who are Satan's primary targets, and why?
Satan's primary targets are the anointed, because they obey God's commandments and have the mission to bear witness about Jesus. Satan also attacks those who support them. He does this because he knows his time is short and he wants as many people as possible to follow him.

Revelation 12:17 tells us that the dragon was enraged with the woman. We know that the woman refers to the anointed ones, but also to all who support them. Satan knows his time is short; that's why he is so furious and makes her the focus of his attacks.
It is not easy for the anointed in particular, because, for example, Revelation 14:1 shows that they must hold fast to the faith and need to have endurance.
14. What will happen after Satan attacks God's people? (See also the picture.)
After Satan’s supporters attack God’s people, the war of Armageddon will begin. Then Jesus and his heavenly army will rescue Jehovah’s servants and completely destroy Satan’s world. The wicked and the liars will disappear, and it will become clear to all that God is just and always speaks the truth.

Once Babylon the Great is destroyed, Satan and all his supporters will attack Jehovah’s people. Then the war of Armageddon will begin, in which Jesus and his army, as seen in the picture, will rescue us and completely destroy everything that remains of Satan’s world.
Revelation 16:16 says, “And they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.” This shows that it is about something that is gathered together and that Jesus comes and destroys it. That is why it is said that the war of Armageddon begins there.
Revelation 19:19-21 says that the wild beast and the kings of the earth with their armies are gathered to wage war against Jesus Christ. It also mentions that those who support the wild beast will be captured and receive its mark. Then it describes how all who oppose Jesus Christ and follow the wild beast will be destroyed.
Revelation 21:8 shows how the wicked and the liars, those who do not follow Jehovah's standard, will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, which represents the second death.
The picture and roadmap that Jehovah has laid out give us peace and confidence about how everything will unfold. Just as Jehovah has fulfilled all his promises, we too can be at peace about the future that awaits us.

15. Why can we look to the future with confidence? (Isaiah 65:16, 17; see also the picture.)
We can look to the future with confidence because, although the world is more divided than ever, Jehovah is gathering those who love the truth and keeping his people united. Nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his promises or blessing his servants.
Furthermore, Isaiah 65:16, 17 assures us that Jehovah will bring a new world where the problems of the past will be forgotten. Romans 8:38, 39 also confirms that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Therefore, we can look to the future that Jehovah has promised with complete confidence.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
For this is what the apostle Paul assures us in Romans 8:38, 39, where he says that neither death nor life, neither angels nor governments, neither things present nor things to come, neither powers, neither height nor depth, nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love. Nothing can prevent Jehovah from blessing us. Even though the world is divided, we, with Jehovah’s help, remain united.
In order for the words of Romans 8:38, 39 to be fulfilled, we must always remain united as a congregation and as an organization, and put our worship of God above all else, so that these words may always be fulfilled.
In paragraph nine we saw that Jehovah is gathering all things on Earth, and Isaiah 65:17 confirms this. It says that this new earth, this society made up of those of us who serve Jehovah, will be the place where we will inhabit the planet. Therefore, we can look to the future with confidence, because we know that we will be able to live in this new world forever.
In Romans 8:38, 39, Paul speaks of various circumstances that can occur in a human being's life. But it is interesting when he says, “neither angels nor governments.” Satan was once an angel, but he became a corrupt angel, a wickedly powerful being along with his henchmen. Not even he, with all the power he may have, can prevent the God of truth from fulfilling his beautiful purpose, as we read at Isaiah 65:17. And even less so death, over which Jehovah has absolute power. In these words, Paul is referring to all of us who serve Jehovah.
Romans 8:39 says that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. We are part of this Kingdom, in which He is King. Therefore, nothing can separate us from this love of God if we remain within that Kingdom.
It is important to keep in mind that Romans 8:38, 39 speaks of God's unbreakable love. Because sometimes, when we read those verses, we might think that it applies to us. We might be able to separate ourselves, but Jehovah never will. Therefore, with that assurance, we can cling to him and, above all, make sure that we never separate ourselves from that love.
Some may wonder: “If God is love, why does he allow suffering? If he were a God of love, he would not allow suffering.” But we realize that Jehovah has a reason for allowing it; he knows that it will bring about good results and that, when he establishes his Kingdom, all mankind will be able to enjoy a life in harmony with Jehovah’s purpose.
Under the Kingdom of God, those of us who have not separated ourselves from God's love will be able to enjoy eternal blessings, as seen in the image: parents with their son and daughter are happy, sitting on the porch of their house, with a beautiful valley full of vegetation in the background, and animals that are now violent, like the rhinoceros, at peace.
It is moving to contemplate the image in peace and tranquility, where one can see so much peace and happiness. As Isaiah 65:17 says, the problems of today will no longer be remembered in that new world.

16. Why do you trust in Jehovah with all your heart?
We trust in Jehovah with all our heart because he is the God of truth, our Creator, and he loves us deeply. Moreover, he makes sure that his purpose is always fulfilled and is gathering people from all nations for pure worship.
We also know that he will soon put an end to Satan and his lies, which shows that nothing can thwart what Jehovah has purposed. Therefore, we have many reasons to trust him completely and praise his name forever.

We trust in Jehovah because he is the God of truth: he never lies, he keeps his promises, and he will continue to do so. Furthermore, he is our Creator and he loves us.
We trust in Jehovah because his purpose has not changed, and the words of Isaiah 60:22 are being fulfilled, where it says that the small one will become a thousand and the insignificant one a mighty nation. We see that Jehovah's Witnesses began many years ago as a very small group, but now we are thousands.
Because Jehovah is already fulfilling his promises. He is bringing pure worship to people who love the truth and keeping his people united. We live in a true spiritual paradise, which is a miracle in our day. So we can be sure that, just as his promises have already been fulfilled, they will continue to be fulfilled in the future.
From now on we can strengthen our trust in Jehovah, seeing that when we strive to do things for him, he gives us his help and shows us that we can trust him.

Why can we trust “the God of truth”?
We can trust Jehovah because he is our Creator, the God of truth. He made the heavens, the earth, and all living things, and he has shown that he has everything under control.
We also trust in Him because He loves us deeply. He created us in His image, gave us life, freedom of choice, and a beautiful home on Earth, thus showing His great and loyal love for humanity.
Furthermore, we can trust Jehovah because he always keeps his word. Although sin entered the world, his purpose to fill the earth with righteous people did not change, and he made sure to fulfill it through the promise of the ransom by means of Jesus.

Because we have three reasons to do so. First, because He is our Creator; thanks to Him we have life. Second, because He loves us and created us to enjoy His creation and life. And third, because He always keeps His word. Although the plans were interrupted at first, that didn't mean His purpose ceased to be fulfilled. He has already kept some promises, and others remain to be fulfilled in the future.
What will Jehovah do to destroy Satan and his world, and what is he doing today to accomplish his purpose?
Jehovah will destroy Satan and his world at the time he has appointed, eliminating Satan and all his supporters. This includes both the rebellious angels and the disobedient humans who oppose his purpose.
Today, Jehovah is gathering “all things in the Christ,” that is, the anointed ones who will rule with Christ in heaven and those who will live forever on earth. He is doing this through the greatest preaching campaign in history, involving both humans and angels. Through this work, Satan’s lies are exposed, and sincere people are helped to learn the truth and join the congregation.

Revelation says that they will be thrown into the lake of fire, which will mean eternal destruction for both Satan and all who follow him.
One of the things He is giving us is the opportunity to participate in the fulfillment of His purpose, by taking part in the greatest preaching campaign in history, in which the angels also participate.
Why can we look to the future with confidence?
We can look to the future with confidence because, although the world is more divided than ever, Jehovah keeps his people united and continues to gather those who love the truth. Nothing can prevent him from blessing his servants or fulfilling his promises.
Isaiah 65:16, 17 assures us that Jehovah will bring a new world where the problems of the past will be forgotten. And Romans 8:38, 39 guarantees that nothing can separate us from God’s love. That is why we have complete confidence in the future that Jehovah has promised.

Because Jehovah does not lie. Everything he has done and everything he has said he has demonstrated with his actions. For example, when he created the earth, he prepared it with everything necessary so that it could be inhabited. And when he said that he loves us, he sent his Son to earth because of his deep love for us. So God is a God of truth, and we can be sure that everything he has said he will fulfill.
As we have seen, Jehovah has everything under control. It is true that there have been problems, but they have not been able to thwart his purpose. We read in Romans that nothing, neither angels nor anything else, can separate us from Jehovah's purpose if we remain in his love and trust that he is the God of truth.
