APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, August 10-16, 2026, Start conversations: FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 2, point 5). Assignment Prepared.

Start conversations (4 mins.) HOUSE TO HOUSE. Begin with a current topic, but then change to one that might be more interesting to the person (lmd lesson 2 point 5).

Setting: During the house-to-house witnessing, the publisher starts a conversation with a housewife about the rising cost of living. She tells him that her biggest concern is problems in her marriage. With empathy, the publisher shares Bible-based advice, offers her a copy of Awake! magazine, and agrees to return another time.

Publisher: Good morning. My name is [name] and I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We are talking with our neighbors about a topic that affects us all: how expensive everything is these days. Have you noticed how your money seems to buy less and less when you go shopping?

Assistant: Yes, of course. You go to the supermarket with the same budget and you can buy less and less each time. It's quite worrying, actually.

Publisher: It's true. Inflation and the rising cost of living have put a lot of pressure on families. The Bible had already predicted that we would live in difficult times. However, many people tell me that, in addition to financial worries, there are other problems that further rob them of their peace of mind. Have you experienced this too?

Assistant: Yes, that's true. Things are tough financially, but what worries me most right now are the problems with my husband. We've been arguing a lot lately, and I feel like we're growing further apart.

Publisher: I'm so sorry you're going through this. When the relationship with the person you've chosen to share your life with deteriorates, it's normal to feel discouraged. Often, daily worries end up affecting communication and peace at home.

If you'll allow me, I'd like to share with you a very brief piece of advice from the Bible that has helped many marriages. It's in Colossians 3:13. Could you please read it?

Assistant: Of course. It says: “Keep putting up with one another and forgiving each other generously even if someone has a reason to complain about another. Jehovah generously forgave you, so do the same.”

Publisher: Thank you very much. What strikes you about that advice?

Assistant: I think it's about forgiveness. The problem is that when there are already so many arguments and resentments, forgiving isn't easy at all.

Publisher: You're absolutely right. The Bible doesn't say it's easy, but it does show that forgiveness can help heal relationships. It also reminds us that we all make mistakes and need to be patient with one another.

With situations like this in mind, I'd like to leave you with this Awake! magazine. The main theme is "12 Keys to a Happy Family."

Assistant: How interesting. What exactly is it about?

Publisher: It presents very practical biblical principles. For example, it explains how to strengthen commitment, work as a true team, improve communication, and learn to resolve disagreements respectfully. These are simple tips that many families have put into practice with positive results.

Assistant: I find it very useful. Sometimes you need guidance and you don't know where to find it.

Publisher: Exactly. And the wonderful thing is that this advice comes from the Bible, which has helped millions of people for centuries. If you'd like, you can read the magazine at your leisure when you have a moment.

Assistant: Yes, thank you very much. I'll do it tonight.

Publisher: I'm glad to hear that. I know you're busy right now, so I don't want to take up any more of your time. How about next Saturday, at this same time, I come back and we can go over key number four together in about five minutes? It explains how to resolve disagreements without hurting each other with words and how to improve communication in marriage.

Assistant: That sounds great. I'll be here and we can discuss it.

Publisher: Perfect. Thank you so much for your time and for trusting me enough to share your experience. I hope you find this information very helpful. Have a wonderful day.

Assistant: Thank you. Likewise. See you next Saturday.
