Publisher: Hello, [name]. Good afternoon. It's great to hear from you again. How have you been? I see the workshop is a bit quieter today.

Assistant: Hi, [name]. Yes, there was less work today. It's good to see you again. I wanted to thank you for the letter you left me last week. I read it carefully and was really struck by the idea that God truly wants us to talk to him and that he cares about us.

Publisher: I'm so glad to hear that, [name]. On our last visit, we saw that Jehovah cares about us and wants us to draw close to him. Was there anything in the letter that made you think in particular?

Assistant: Yes. One question has been nagging at me. The truth is, I've never been a religious person. We don't usually pray at home, so I don't know how to do it. I thought you had to memorize prayers or use very special words for God to hear you.

Publisher: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Many people believe the same. However, the Bible teaches something very different. If you'd like, let's read Matthew 6:7, 8. Could you read it?

Assistant: Of course. It says: “When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Assistant: God doesn't expect us to repeat prayers. Rather, it seems He's interested in us speaking to Him sincerely.

Publisher: Exactly. Jehovah wants us to speak to him in our own words. There is no need for special language or a particular posture. We can express our feelings to him, thank him for the good things we have, tell him our worries, and ask for his help.

Assistant: Honestly, that gives me peace of mind. I thought praying was much more complicated.

Publisher: I'm glad to hear that. In fact, Jesus not only taught how not to pray, but also what things are appropriate to include in our prayers.

Assistant: Like what?

Publisher: For example, we can ask him for wisdom to make good decisions, strength to face problems, and help to do what pleases him. The Bible shows that Jehovah gladly listens to sincere prayers.

Assistant: I find it very interesting. I've never had it explained to me that way before.
