Let us examine the Scriptures every day 2026
Saturday, August 29, 2026
Make sure what things are most important (Phil. 1:10).
Imagine the following situation. You are looking for a job to support your family and find two potential positions. You carefully consider all the information, such as the type of work, the hours, the commute, and so forth. The jobs themselves are not something the Bible forbids. You may prefer one option because you like the type of work better or because it pays more. But there are other factors you should consider before making a decision. For example, would either job prevent you from attending meetings? Would it take away time you need to care for your family’s emotional and spiritual needs? Asking yourself these kinds of questions will help you put the most important things—your worship of Jehovah and your family’s needs—above material advantages. Then you will be able to make a decision that has Jehovah’s blessing. w25.01 17 pars. 11-13
How did David feel when others treated him badly?
Throughout his life, David faced many painful situations that brought him to tears. Many hated him, and even some family members and friends betrayed his trust and tried to harm him (1 Sam. 19:10, 11; 2 Sam. 15:10-14, 30). At one point in his life, he wrote: “I am exhausted from sighing; all night long I soak my bed with tears; with my weeping I flood my couch.” Why did he feel this way? He explained: “Because of all those who persecute me” (Ps. 6:6, 7). People hurt David so much that he could no longer hold back his tears.
According to Psalm 56:8, what was David convinced of?
Although David’s life was difficult, he was certain that Jehovah loved him. He wrote: “Jehovah will hear my crying” (Psalm 6:8). On another occasion, he wrote the beautiful words found at Psalm 56:8 (read it). These words poetically describe how much Jehovah loves us and cares about how we feel. David said it was as if Jehovah were collecting each of his tears in a wineskin or recording them in a book. He was fully convinced that his loving heavenly Father was aware of all his suffering and remembered it, and that he not only knew his problems but also how they made him feel.
What can console us if someone has disappointed or betrayed us?
What do we learn? Have you been disappointed or betrayed by someone you love? Are you heartbroken because your marriage or courtship ended? Are you sad because someone you love has stopped serving Jehovah? Let’s consider a real-life example. One brother described how he felt when his wife was unfaithful and left him: “I couldn’t believe it; I was in shock. I felt worthless, sad, and angry.” What can comfort you if someone has betrayed or disappointed you? Keeping in mind the fact that Jehovah will never abandon you. The brother said: “I realized that people can fail you, but Jehovah will not. He is our Rock; he will always be there, no matter what. He will never abandon his loyal ones.” (Psalm 37:28) Remember that no one loves you as much as Jehovah loves you. You may have been deeply hurt, but don’t let that blind you to how much you matter to Jehovah. (Romans 8:38, 39) Even if someone treats you badly, you can be sure of one thing: Jehovah does love you!
