APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 5-11, 2026, Start conversations: PUBLIC PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 5, point 3). Assignment Prepared.

Start conversations (4 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. A person stares at the publications cart (lmd lesson 5 point 3).

Setting: During the cart-based witnessing, a person is looking at the publications. The publisher approaches and shows him the brochure Enjoy Life Forever. The person expresses doubts about religion and the Bible but shows interest in hearing the publisher's advice and agrees to take the brochure. Finally, they agree to talk another day about why God allows suffering.

Publisher: Good morning. I see you were looking at the posts. Feel free to take a look; they're free.

Assistant: Thank you. This brochure caught my eye; it says, “Enjoy life forever.” The title sounds interesting.

Publisher: Yes, it's quite eye-catching. What caught your attention most about the title?

Assistant: The idea of "enjoying life forever" sounds nice, but honestly, I'm not a religious person, nor do I belong to any religion.

Publisher: I understand. And I appreciate you telling me. In fact, many people who approach the cart don't consider themselves religious either. Some simply have questions about life and want to find answers that make sense to them.

Assistant: Exactly. I like to question things and look for logical answers.

Publisher: That's very good. And this booklet is precisely designed to analyze what the Bible says and see for yourself if its advice really makes sense. It's not simply about accepting something because someone tells us to.

Assistant: That's precisely my problem with religion. It often seems like they want you to believe without question.

Publisher: I understand. And speaking of the Bible, what is your opinion of it?

Assistant: Well, for me, it's a book written by men thousands of years ago. I don't know how much it can help with the problems we have today.

Publisher: That's a reasonable question. In fact, let's think about it. When we buy a complicated appliance, we usually look for the manufacturer's instructions, right?

Assistant: Yes, of course. That way we know how to use it and how to avoid damaging it.

Publisher: Exactly. The Bible presents the idea that our Creator knows human beings very well and has given us principles that can help us live better lives. For example, it talks about how to treat others, how to control our worries, and how to deal with problems.

Assistant: That does interest me, because nowadays there are a lot of stressed people.

Publisher: That's true. And look at this cover image. Here's a person walking peacefully through a very beautiful place. What feeling does it give you?

Assistant: Peace and quiet. Although it seems difficult to have such a life with so many problems.

Publisher: Exactly. And that's precisely why I like an idea that appears in Romans 15:4. It says: “For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Assistant: Hope in what sense?

Publisher: That problems and suffering will not last forever. The Bible offers hope for the future, but also advice that can help us better cope with current difficulties.

Assistant: Well, that does sound different from what one normally thinks when one hears about religion.

Publisher: Yes. And the interesting thing is that you can verify what the Bible says for yourself. For example, this booklet begins with a very simple question: What can help us enjoy life more?

Assistant: I find it interesting.

Publisher: If you'd like, you can take it with you. It's completely free. The first lesson explains in simple terms how the Bible can help us in our daily lives.

Assistant: Thank you. Yes, I would like to read it.

Publisher: With pleasure. And as you read this, you might be left with this question: if God truly wants us to enjoy life, why does He allow so much suffering?

Assistant: That's a question I've always asked myself.

Publisher: Exactly. If you'd like, another time I'm in the area we can chat for a few minutes about what the Bible says. It doesn't have to be a religious conversation; we can simply analyze what it says together.

Assistant: Yes, that sounds good to me. I'd like to know that answer.

Publisher: Perfect. Then, when I'm back here, we can continue the conversation. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at the posts. Have a wonderful day!
