APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 5-11, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 2, point 5). Prepared Assignment.

Start conversations (2 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. (lmd lesson 2 point 5).

Setting: The publisher is talking with someone who is worried about rising expenses and financial difficulties. He shows the person advice from the Bible about not worrying about problems to come and agrees to continue talking about how God can help us with our worries.

Publisher: Good morning. How are you? It seems to be very hot today.

Assistant: Good morning. Yes, quite a lot. Although, to be honest, the heat is the least of our worries.

Publisher: Oh, really? Are you going through some kind of hardship?

Assistant: Yes. Lately I've been worried because expenses have increased. Food, bills, transportation… you do the math and the money just doesn't stretch far enough.

Publisher: I understand. And when you have so many things to think about, it's easy to feel stressed.

Assistant: Exactly. Sometimes I'm working and I'm still thinking about how I'm going to pay for everything.

Publisher: You know, that reminds me of some very practical advice Jesus gave. It's in Matthew 6:34. Look what it says: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Assistant: The advice is nice, but it's hard not to worry about what's coming.

Publisher: Yes, of course. Jesus wasn't saying we should ignore our responsibilities. Rather, he's encouraging us not to take on problems today that haven't even arrived yet. We can focus on doing what's within our power each day.

Assistant: That would definitely help a lot, because you worry about things that might not even happen.

Publisher: Exactly. And there's something else I like about this teaching. Jesus also explained that God knows our needs and cares about us. That can give us a lot of peace.

Assistant: I had never seen it that way.

Publisher: That's why I'd like to show you on another occasion why we can be sure that God really cares about us and how He can help us when we have worries.

Assistant: Yes, I'd like to know.
