APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 19-25, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 2, point 3). Prepared Assignment.
Start conversations (3 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Start a conversation with someone who seems happy (lmd lesson 2 point 3).
Setting: In a supermarket, the publisher strikes up a friendly conversation with a person who seems happy. As they talk, he learns that the person has received good news in their family and takes the opportunity to tell them about the Bible's promise of living in a world with abundant peace.
Publisher: Hello, good morning! You look very happy today. Has something good happened?
Assistant: Hello, good morning! Yes, that's right. I just received some good news from my family and I'm very happy.
Publisher: How wonderful! I'm so happy for you. It's so nice to have reasons to be happy, isn't it? I wish we could all feel this way. Tell me, what do you think this world needs so that there are more happy and peaceful people?
Assistant: I think we need more peace. There's so much stress, problems, and bad news. Sometimes it seems like people are constantly worried about everything.
Publisher: That's true. Sometimes, even when we have reasons to be happy, the worries of daily life can steal our peace. You know, the Bible speaks of a future where peace will be something we can all enjoy. May I read you a short passage?
Assistant: Of course, with pleasure.
Publisher: Look at what Psalm 37:11 says: “But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy abundant peace.”
Did you notice that expression: “abundant peace”? It doesn’t speak of a peace that lasts only a moment, but of a peace that will be fully enjoyed.
Assistant: Yes, it sounds very nice. Honestly, it would be wonderful to live without so many worries.
Publisher: That's right! Imagine living in a world where people treat each other with kindness, neighbors get along, and no one is afraid to go out on the street. Would you like to live in a world like that?
Assistant: Of course! It would be like a dream.
Publisher: And the beautiful thing is that the Bible presents this hope as a promise from God, not as a mere human wish. God wants good-hearted people to enjoy a life filled with peace. Although we see many problems today, we can be certain that He will fulfill His promise.
Assistant: What a beautiful message. We need to hear things like this, because the news is almost always negative.
Publisher: You're right. That's why we like to share these promises from the Bible, because they help us look to the future with hope. Well, I don't want to keep you any longer with your shopping, but if you'd like, we can exchange phone numbers so I can share more information with you about how God will bring peace to all the earth.
Assistant: Sure, I'd like to know more. My number is...
