APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY: October 19-25, 2026, Discourse: Jesus Is Not God. Lesson 7, Prepared Assignment.
Speech (4 mins.) lmd appendix A point 20. Title: Jesus is not God (th lesson 7).
Have you ever been asked if you believe in Jesus? Many people would probably answer yes. In fact, millions of people worldwide claim to believe in him. However, when we ask them who Jesus is, we find very different answers.
For example, many churches teach that Jesus is the almighty God and part of the Holy Trinity. But what does the Bible actually say? Should we accept what people teach or examine what God's Word says?
Today we will analyze two Bible texts that will help us understand who Jesus is and what his relationship is with his Father, Jehovah. First, let's see what Jesus himself said about his relationship with the Father.
LET'S READ JOHN 14:28
“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you love me, you will be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.”
What does this statement teach us? Jesus clearly said, “The Father is greater than I.” He did not say that he and his Father were equal, but he acknowledged that his Father held a higher position than he did.
Let's consider this: if Jesus were God Almighty himself, why would he say that the Father is greater than he is? His own words help us understand that Jesus and his Father are distinct persons and that he acknowledges Jehovah's authority.
Now, someone might think, “But Jesus said that when he was on Earth as a man. What happened after he returned to heaven?” That’s a good question. Let’s see what the Bible says about it.
Secondly, let's analyze who has authority over Jesus, even after his resurrection.
LET'S READ 1 CORINTHIANS 11:3
“But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”
Let's look at the last words: “The head of Christ is God.” What does this mean? The Bible shows an order of authority: Christ is the head of man, but God is the head of Christ. Therefore, Jesus is subject to the authority of his Father.
And this text does not refer only to the time Jesus was on Earth. Paul wrote these words after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension to heaven. So the Bible continues to distinguish between God and Christ and shows that Jehovah has authority over his Son.
So, what conclusion do we reach? The words of Jesus in John 14:28 and those of Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:3 help us understand an important truth: Jesus is not the almighty God, but the Son of God.
Does this mean that Jesus doesn't deserve honor? Not at all. Jesus is God's loyal Son and our Savior. His life and sacrifice are of extraordinary value, and we should honor him as the Bible teaches.
At the same time, we must give exclusive worship to Jehovah, the only almighty God, who is the Father of Jesus and also our Father.
Therefore, instead of relying solely on what others teach, let us carefully examine the Scriptures. In this way we can come to know Jehovah better, understand the role of his Son, and strengthen our relationship with both of them.
