APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 19-25, 2026, Start conversations: FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 2, point 4). Assignment Prepared.

Start conversations (2 mins.) FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. The person who opens the door looks sad (lmd lesson 2 point 4).

Setting: During the house-to-house witnessing, the publisher begins a conversation with a person who is very sad because it is the first anniversary of their mother's death. Noticing that the person is not well, the publisher approaches them with tact and empathy, asks how they are feeling, and shares a Bible thought that can offer comfort and hope.

Publisher: Good morning. My name is [name]. We're visiting neighbors to share a Bible verse that can help us have hope during these difficult times. But I sense you might not be doing well. Excuse me for asking, are you alright?

Assistant: The truth is, no. Today marks one year since my mother passed away, and I haven't been able to stop crying. I miss her terribly, and I feel so alone.

Publisher: I'm so sorry. It must be very painful to remember someone so dear, especially on a day like this. And you shouldn't feel bad for crying; everyone grieves in their own way.

Assistant: Thank you. Sometimes I feel like others expect me to be over it, but it still hurts a lot.

Publisher: I understand. You know, there's a passage in the Bible that I find very comforting. It's in Psalm 34:18, and it says that Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted. Isn't it wonderful to know that God sees our suffering and cares about us?

Assistant: Yes, it's beautiful. Sometimes I think God doesn't realize how much we suffer.

Publisher: Actually, it matters a lot to him. And the Bible also promises that the day will come when death will no longer exist and we will be able to see our loved ones again. That hope can give us strength to keep going.

Assistant: How wonderful that would be. Thank you so much for listening and for sharing those words with me.

Publisher: Thank you for letting me know how you're feeling. I don't want to take up any more of your time, but if you'd like, I could come back another day to share more comforting promises from the Bible. I'd love to hear how you're doing.

Assistant: Of course, I'd love to. Thank you very much.

Publisher: With pleasure. I sincerely hope you find comfort and strength during these days. Have a good day.
