Let us examine the Scriptures every day 2026

He was deeply moved, because they were like sheep without a shepherd (Mark 6:34).
Jesus demonstrated his love and compassion for people by seeing them as sheep without a shepherd. Although he and his apostles were tired and needed rest, he was deeply moved and dedicated time to teaching them many things. This teaches us that we can nurture our desire to serve others by considering their well-being and remembering that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving.
How can you nurture your desire to serve others?
We can nurture our desire to serve others by reflecting on the joy that comes from helping our brothers and sisters. As Jesus said, “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” If we focus on the well-being of others and follow Jesus’ example, we will find happiness in serving our brothers and sisters, and our desire to do more for the congregation will grow.
How did Jesus show that serving others made him happy? (Mark 6:31-34).
Jesus showed that serving others brought him joy when, despite being tired and needing to rest with his apostles, he was deeply moved by the sight of the crowds and began to teach them many things. He did this not out of obligation, but because he loved people and wanted to help them. This demonstrates that Jesus found joy in dedicating his time and energy to the spiritual well-being of others.
In what practical ways did Jesus help his listeners?
Jesus practically helped his listeners by miraculously multiplying the food and asking his disciples to distribute it until everyone had eaten and was satisfied. In doing so, he taught them that serving others involves not only teaching them but also humbly attending to their physical needs. This demonstrates that we can experience great happiness when we put the well-being of others before our own and are willing to help them.
