Through one man, sin entered the world, and through sin, death entered the world (Rom. 5:12).
The ransom demonstrates that Jehovah is perfectly just and that he loves us deeply. Just as Adam’s disobedience brought us sin and death, Jesus’ obedience made it possible for us to be freed from them. Jehovah could not overlook sin; therefore, he provided the ransom through the sacrifice of his beloved Son. This assures us that he will always do what is right, keep his promises, and give us the opportunity to live forever and become part of his family.
How could the death of a single man save millions of people?
The death of just one man, Jesus, could redeem millions because, just as we all inherited sin and death from Adam due to his disobedience, Jesus, by being a perfect man and obeying Jehovah to the point of death, provided the ransom needed to free us from sin and death. In this way, Jehovah demonstrated his love for us and his perfect justice.
Why couldn't Jehovah simply let Adam's obedient descendants live forever?
Jehovah could not simply let Adam’s obedient descendants live forever because that would have meant overlooking Adam’s disobedience and acting as if nothing had happened. Since Jehovah’s justice is perfect, he could not ignore sin; the appropriate price had to be paid so that mankind could be freed from sin and death.
Why can we be confident that Jehovah will always do what is right?
We can be confident that Jehovah will always do what is right because he has shown that he never overlooks his justice, even when he had to sacrifice his beloved Son to pay the ransom. This assures us that he will always keep his promises and that we can trust him completely.
How does the ransom help us to see how much Jehovah loves us? (1 John 4:9, 10)
The ransom helps us see how much Jehovah loves us because he was willing to send his beloved Son to die for us so that we can live forever and become part of his family. Furthermore, thanks to the ransom, Jehovah can forgive our sins and allow us to enjoy a beautiful friendship with him now. This shows that his love for us is deep and sincere.
