There is more happiness in giving than in receiving (Acts 20:35).
Ministerial servants perform a vital role in the congregation, and their service is highly valued, as the apostle Paul demonstrated by mentioning them alongside the elders. Serving as a ministerial servant is a great honor and privilege that can be enjoyed by both young and old. Therefore, baptized men can set this goal for themselves, motivated by a desire to serve Jehovah and help their brothers and sisters. To do so, they must be spiritual, loyal men, willing to cooperate with the elders in the various needs of the congregation.
How did the apostle Paul feel about ministerial servants?
The apostle Paul had deep appreciation and respect for ministerial servants. He considered them loyal men who performed a vital service in the congregation. That is why, when he wrote to the Christians in Philippi, he specifically mentioned them along with the elders, thus showing that he highly valued their service (Philippians 1:1).
What is Luis's opinion about his responsibility as a ministerial servant?
Luis considers being a ministerial servant a great honor and deeply values this responsibility, especially because he recognizes the affection the congregation has shown him. Therefore, he feels grateful for the privilege of serving others.
What questions might a baptized man ask himself?
A baptized man might wonder if he can set a goal of becoming a ministerial servant, what his motivation should be for achieving that goal, and what biblical requirements he would have to meet to receive that appointment. Furthermore, it is important for him to understand the role of ministerial servants.
What is the role of a ministerial servant?
The role of a ministerial servant is to assist the elders in various practical matters of the congregation. For example, they make sure there are enough territories and publications for the preaching work, they help with the cleaning and maintenance of the Kingdom Hall, they serve as ushers, and they operate the audio and video equipment during meetings. But above all, they must be spiritual men who love Jehovah, respect his standards, and demonstrate deep love for their brothers and sisters.
REFLECTION
Today’s daily text teaches us that serving in the congregation is a privilege we should value, not a position we should seek for personal recognition. What matters is having a sincere desire to help others and to show love for Jehovah and for our brothers and sisters. It also reminds us that age should not be a barrier to setting spiritual goals, since both young and old can be useful in the congregation. Therefore, I want to cultivate a willing and humble spirit, always looking for opportunities to serve and contribute to the well-being of my brothers and sisters.
