TREASURES FROM THE BIBLE, August 9-15, 2021: “The Law proved that Jehovah loves women,” Discourse.

“The Law Proves Jehovah Loves Women” (10 min.)

Personally, I have heard this expression that when someone sees a house that everything is in order, they say here you can see that there is a woman's hand. With that expression the organization, the cleanliness is demonstrated. Because women have that ability. We do not say that men do not, but we must admit it. Women have that gift of order and cleanliness.

Even so, they are not given the due value that they deserve in our day. For example, when they do certain work in an office or any type of activity, they are not paid the same as men, although they do the same work. Or maybe even more than that

Why don't women get the recognition they deserve? By the way we treat the world today. They discount women, put them in a second category. How different in the case of Jehovah God has always tried to give them the dignity they deserve, even promoting laws.

Let's review some of these in the Treasures section of the Bible. Entitled: The Law Demonstrated That Jehovah Loves Women. Let's see what laws Jehovah established to show his appreciation for these women.

Deuteronomy 24: 5 

We can perceive here Jehovah's interest in newlyweds, he exempted a man from going to the army during the first year of marriage. Reason: That allowed them to have the right to have a child. And in the event that the husband goes after this mandatory year and goes to war. And if he were to die, he would have offspring.

Or they may be another reason that the wife would be left with something that reminds her of the love she had for her husband. And of course, in that way she partially covered his absence. As far as Jehovah was very loving and appreciative of the woman.

Another point also mentioned in the Bible is that if a woman was left alone as a widow, she also had preferential treatment. 

Deuteronomy 24: 19-21

This law that we have just read is called the law of gleaning. Jehovah had a worthy purpose. He knew that a woman who had been widowed had many difficulties to support herself financially, since normally the husband was the one who did the hard work and the wife took care of her house, her home.

By becoming a widow, she now had to find a way to get food. What a loving way of Jehovah to make sure that those who had their fields and even workers were not picking every last of the grapes, every last of the olives, or the wheat or the barley?

What was left on the ground or what was left on the tree could these people, in the case of widows, come up and pick it up. That was a law. Do we see how Jehovah demonstrated that he loved women? How can we imitate the interest, the affection towards women?

We are going to put an example. A long time ago we were educated since we were very children, that if we got on a bus and got to have a seat once a woman got on, it would not matter if she was pregnant or had a child in her arms. The fact of being a woman we were told you must give up the position to her. Today that is no longer done.

It is not respected. Dignity is not given to women as before. When a man gives up the job to a woman with no special need for her, it is admirable and some do not even understand why such things happen. But it is a way of reflecting that they are deeply appreciated.

Another way, how could we, as Christians, also collaborate is in housework. It is well said that women are the first to get up in the house and the last to go to bed. And as we said at the beginning, there is a woman's hand in a house, it shows. Can a man also help with housework? Of course yes.

However, it is a pity that in many homes children are raised with the idea that they should not be in the kitchen, that this is not a place for men. But thinking about it a bit. How many male servants of Jehovah did housework?

Many, including the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Even he when he was resurrected and his apostles came from fishing. Isn't it true that there is the story that he prepared bread and some fish for them to be served? He did not send for a woman to prepare them. He did it himself.

Or, what can we say about the biblical account of Elijah when an angel prepared food and on several occasions woke him up to serve himself?

There is a test that women are not necessarily the only ones who could do. Men can do it too.

How would a wife, a mother or a woman who takes care of the housework feel that the men will collaborate one day so that she can rest? Don't you think that would be a way of showing them deep appreciation and appreciation for the work that she does?

And Jehovah went further still. He even tried to protect women for the future.

Deuteronomy 25: 5-6

This law is what was called brother-in-law marriage. This is a clear demonstration that Jehovah wanted this woman to have offspring.

And of course that the first husband also kept his name or what today we would call his last name in force. And why was Jehovah doing this? Because women did not have the right to receive property or inheritance but men did. And what Jehovah did was that as there was a son, a male, although he was not the direct son of the first husband.

However, he would be the heir, and therefore she would benefit from a place to live. How many ways Jehovah had to show that he loved women! That is a clear demonstration of the interest, respect and good position that they have for them.

We also want to show consideration and deep love, affection and appreciation to any of the women in our household. And what about our sisters in the congregation?

Recognize that, as Jehovah said, it is a large army and thanks to them many people come to praise Jehovah.

Let us have the same attitude, the same point of view of Jehovah, of continuing to respect women. Thanks to them we have clean homes, food on time, clean clothes and much more. If there is a woman in your home near you, appreciate her as much as Jehovah appreciates them.
