“We thank Jehovah for the love you show” (15 min.): Elder Discussion with Audience. Play the video We always “thank God for you”. Highlight one or two ideas from the jw.org article series "How We Use Donations."
What are our donations used for?
This year was very difficult for the congregation, but nothing endangered our faith and the love we feel for one another, and the donations have helped keep us united. For example, during this pandemic many brothers have received everything they need and so far 25 million dollars have been allocated to continue helping which are the results of donations.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
There is an article in the section that indicates how donations are used. We can all see in a concrete way how our donations are used. For example, thousands upon thousands of brothers living in places where internet access is limited can now download publications in the kingdom hall, thanks to all donations. Jw box has also helped the brothers by winning cases in court, so that our brothers who live in indigenous communities in Latin America have religious freedom.
What is the best way to financially support our brothers? (Read the article “Those who have more help those who have less” on jw.org).
One of the ways we can support is through our donations. Jehovah's Witnesses also carry out religious and humanitarian activities in more than 200 countries and territories. But only 35 of these receive enough donations from the local brothers to cover their own expenses. The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses reviews the spiritual activities and needs of all Witnesses in the world. The funds received are managed with great care and given to the people who need it most.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Other ways of helping would also be, helping brothers that we see as having needs, some "afflicted who cried out for help." For example, there may be those who do not have all their basic needs covered. We may at one time or another have generously cared for those shortcomings. However, we must not forget that the Christian should not only worry about giving material support. There are those who cry out for help because they feel lonely or depressed.
