Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Wednesday, November 10, 2021

They will form one flock with one shepherd (John 10:16).

Not all who hope to live in heaven are part of the “faithful and wise slave” (Matt. 24: 45-47). As in the first century, today Jehovah and Jesus use a few to feed, or teach, the many. In the 1st century, only a few anointed ones were used to write the Christian Greek Scriptures. Today, only a few anointed ones have the responsibility to give God's people "food in due season." Jehovah has decided to give eternal life on earth to the vast majority of his servants and life in heaven to the few who will rule with Jesus. God rewards all his servants — both the “Jew” and the “10 men” - and asks all of them to obey the same laws and be faithful (Zech. 8:23). All should be humble and serve Him in unity. And everyone should strive to keep the peace in the congregation. We are getting closer and closer to the end, so let us continue to serve Jehovah and follow Christ as “one flock”. w20.01 31 pars. 15, 16

What has been happening to the number of participants in the Memorial?

Years ago, the number of those who partaken of bread and wine at the Memorial continued to decline. But, in recent years, the number has been increasing. Should we be concerned about this? No. Let's look at several factors that will help us understand why.

Why shouldn't we be concerned with the number of those who partake of the bread and wine?

"Jehovah knows those who belong to him" (2 Tim. 2:19). Jehovah knows who are truly anointed, but the brothers who during the Memorial count those who eat the bread and drink the wine do not know. Therefore, the total number includes those who believe that they are anointed but in reality they are not. Some who used to participate no longer do so. And others believe that they will rule with Christ in heaven due to emotional or mental problems. So we don't know exactly how many anointed ones are left on Earth.

Does the Bible say how many anointed will be left on earth when the great tribulation begins?

There will be anointed ones in many parts of the earth when Jesus comes to take them to heaven (Matt. 24:31). It is true that the Bible implies that in the last days there will still be a small number of anointed ones on earth (Rev. 12:17). But it does not say how many will be left when the great tribulation begins.
