Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (Heb. 12:1).

If we want to receive the prize of eternal life, we must follow the path, or lifestyle, set for Christians (Acts 20:24; 1 Pet. 2:21). But Satan and his imitators want God's servants to go astray and keep “running with them” (1 Pet. 4:4). They make fun of our lifestyle and say that theirs is better because it gives them freedom. But they are very wrong (2 Pet. 2:19). It is of utmost importance that we choose the right path. Satan wants us to stop running on the narrow road that “leads to life” and turn to the broad road where most people in this world go. This route is easier, but it "leads to destruction" (Matt. 7:13, 14). If we do not want anything to lead us astray, we must trust in Jehovah and listen to what he tells us. w20.04 26 para. one; 27 paras. 5, 7.

What must we do in order not to be a hindrance to others?

If we do not want to be a hindrance to our fellow racers, we must also compromise when possible and not insist on our rights (Rom. 14:13, 19-21; 1 Cor. 8:9, 13). This is very different from what happens in a literal race. Runners compete against each other, and everyone strives to be the only winner. They usually never think of others. So maybe they will try to break through to get to the head of the race. Instead, we do not compete against our brothers (Gal. 5:26; 6:4). Our goal is to help everyone we can to cross the finish line with us and get the prize of life. So we strive to follow Paul's inspired advice to seek not only our own interests, “but also those of others” (Phil. 2:4).

What do brokers focus on, and why?

In addition to always looking ahead, runners focus on the finish line. Even if they can't literally see it, they can imagine the moment they walk through it and receive the prize. This keeps them motivated.

What does Jehovah guarantee us for love?

Out of love, Jehovah guarantees us that all who finish the race will win the prize of eternal life, whether in heaven or in Paradise on earth. The Bible gives us details that allow us to glimpse what this prize will be like. So we can imagine the wonderful life that awaits us. The more we focus on this hope, the more determined we will be to avoid the pitfalls that could prevent us from finishing the race.

What advantage do we have, unlike literal brokers?

In ancient Greece, runners had to overcome obstacles such as fatigue and pain. But they could only rely on the training they had received and their own strength. Like them, we too are trained to run in the Christian race. Now, we have an advantage: our source of energy is unlimited, since it comes from Jehovah. If we lean on him, he promises us that he will train us and make us strong (1 Pet. 5:10).
