TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, June 6-12, 2022, “David Showed Loyal Love,” Prepared Speech.

“David Showed Loyal Love” (10 min.)

King David showed loyal love for others. With people who had absolutely nothing and who needed resources for their sustenance or to live. As the King possessed great wealth, he could have done like other rulers of that time or like many rich people today, but he was not greedy.

There are many examples of people today who the more they have, the more they want and the less they share. This was not the case with David and we can learn a lot from it. Whether we have many material things or not. Being a giver, kind and humble is within everyone's reach, because we are motivated by loyal love for our neighbor.

According to our material possibilities, we can help our carnal and spiritual family in many ways, not only with money but with our affection, with our presence, with our words, with our friendship. There are many ways in which we can help people as seen in the image of the activity guide for this week, consolidating and giving support to the afflicted, whatever the reason that has led to this situation.

Even we ourselves may be experiencing difficult times, helping others may also help us and strengthen our faith together so that we overcome the tests of this system and the many problems that exist united as Jehovah wants from his loyal servants.

Let's look at a very important aspect and that is that David "showed" loyal love. This implies an action. And it is that it is not only about being good people, as servants of God this is presupposed of us, or that we say we have loyal love. No. David made efforts to find people who needed him.

This teaches us that we can love our siblings and family very much, but… do we really know their circumstances? And this is very important to clarify, the objective is not to know personal details of their life, just enough to know if they are having a bad time or if they need help.

Many times in the congregation when we ask how they are, we say a simple: good brother. But will there be something else? Something that worries you and that we can help you? We have to be interested in our brothers, without interfering in their personal lives.

LET'S READ: 2 Samuel 9:1.

1 And David proceeded to say: “Is there still anyone left from the house of Saul, that I may exercise loving-kindness to him for Jonathan's sake?”

David got down to business and specifically looked for a person in need to help him. A King who helped a person who had a physical disability and who was humble like Mephibosheth to the point of eating with him. David not only showed his loyal love by helping the lowly, but he did not care about this economic or physical condition.

This teaches us that love does not discriminate, and if it does, then it is not loyal. We have to treat all our brothers in the same way, people in the same way. It is true that with certain people we have more affinity than with others, but this does not mean that we help some more than others, or that we do not help with all our hearts a person who needs it, either at a specific moment or during the time. that is necessary.

Because as David wrote: "In the day of calamity the Lord will provide escape." What if we are the escape that our dear brother was looking for for so long? Will we deny it? Of course not, because we cultivate the loyal love that our God Jehovah has taught us, at any time that is necessary.

LET'S READ: 2 Samuel 9:5,7.

5 King David immediately sent and took him from the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo-debar. 6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan son of Saul entered David, immediately he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said: “Mephibosheth!” to which he said: “Here is your servant.”7 And David went on to say to him: “Do not be afraid, for I will without fail exercise loving-kindness toward you on account of Jonathan your father; and I must return to you all the field of Saul your grandfather, and you yourself will eat bread at my table constantly.”

As soon as Mephibosheth entered and saw David, he fell face down. To which David reacted by saying that he should not be afraid, that he would show him loyal love, that he would always eat at my table.

It is a selfless, loyal love. When we help our brothers, our neighbor, this is not: “today for you, and tomorrow for me”. A very popular phrase in this system. This is a sentence with interests involved. We help our brothers because we love them, as much or more than ourselves, and we never do it expecting anything in return.

Not even when we go through a difficult situation do we remind him that we helped him in the past. This would not be loyal love. Loyal love is pure, heartfelt, and selfless. He is only interested in the well-being of others, before our own.

Just as David kept his promise to show loyal love, so must we. We have promised to serve God with our baptism and dedication, and this involves caring for his people.

LET'S READ: 2 Samuel 9:9,10.

9 The king now called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, "All that had come to belong to Saul and to all his household I give indeed to your master's grandson. 10 And you must cultivate the soil for him, you and your children and your servants, and you have to harvest, and it has to serve as food for [those who belong] to your master's grandson, and they have to eat; but Mephibosheth himself, the grandson of your master, will eat bread at my table constantly.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

This disability would prevent her from doing many domestic tasks. And as much as David offered her he couldn't work miracles, but he did help with his kindness and loyal love to make her day to day easier by giving this assignment of long-term care and protection to Zibah. All of us at one time or another need support, a hand to hold on to and hold on to in difficult times.

And how much more so for those people who fight like Mephibosheth because of a thorn stuck in their flesh. This is a magnificent lesson in kindness, loyal love, and humility for all of us. Let's put into practice the lesson that David left us, let's not forget the promise he made to Jonathan, King David did not forget and neither did we.

Let us give the best to our brothers, seek their needs and willingly show our loyal love towards them because, the one who treats the disadvantaged with consideration is happy; Jehovah will rescue him in the day of calamity. Jehovah will protect him and keep him alive. He will be called happy on earth; you will never hand him over to the whim of his enemies.
