I will be what I decide to be (Ex. 3:14).

Jehovah makes things happen by becoming whatever is necessary to fulfill his purpose. Furthermore, he can make his imperfect human servants become whatever is necessary to serve him and fulfill his purpose (Isa. 64:8). In these ways, Jehovah brings about his will. Nothing can prevent everything that is proposed from coming true (Is. 46:10, 11). What will help us feel greater admiration and respect for our heavenly Father? Meditate on what he has done and what he has helped us to do. For example, we marvel as we ponder all that he has created (Ps. 8:3, 4). And as we reflect on what he has made us become to fulfill his will, we feel deep respect for him. Without a doubt, Jehovah's name is impressive. The meaning of him tells us all that he is, all that he has done and all that he will do (Ps. 89:7, 8). w20.06 9 paras. 6, 7

(a) What caused David to have a divided heart on one occasion? b) What was the result?

The following words that King David wrote by inspiration in Psalm 86:11 are also very important: "Unify my heart." Throughout his life, he saw how easy it is to become divided in heart. On one occasion, he was on the roof of his house and saw another man's wife, named Bat-Sheba, bathing. How was David's heart at that moment? United or divided? He knew Jehovah's command that said, "Do not covet your neighbor's wife" (Ex. 20:17). But he kept looking at her. His heart became divided. On one hand, he wanted this woman. And, on the other hand, he wanted to please Jehovah. Although he had loved and feared Jehovah for a long time, he gave in to his selfish desire. As a result, he did some very bad things. He tarnished Jehovah's name and did terrible harm to innocent people,

How do we know that David had a united heart again?

Jehovah disciplined David, and he recovered (2 Sam. 12:13; Ps. 51:2-4, 17). He never forgot the trouble and suffering he caused by allowing his heart to be divided. His words from Psalm 86:11 can also be translated as: "Give me a heart that is not divided." Did Jehovah answer him? Yes, for God's Word later says that David “served the Lord his God with a complete heart” (1 Kings 11:4; 15:3).

What should we ask ourselves, and why?

David's example encourages us a lot, but it also serves as a warning. The serious sin he committed should make us think. Whether we have been serving Jehovah for a short time or a long time, we should ask ourselves: “Am I fighting against Satan's attempts to divide my heart?”
