Parents, continue to take care of the inheritance that Jehovah gave you (10 mins.).
Today we will reflect on the wonderful responsibility that Jehovah has given to parents. He has entrusted to your care a very valuable treasure "His children." As we will see, the Bible shows that to successfully fulfill this responsibility, it is essential to have Jehovah's help, since He wants families to be strong, united and happy.
LET'S READ PSALM 127:1,2.
1. Unless Jehovah builds the house, it is of no use for the builders to work hard on it. Unless Jehovah protects the city, it is of no use for the guard to stay awake.
2. It is of no use for you to get up early, stay up late, or work hard to get food, because He provides for those He loves and also gives them rest by sleeping.
Let us observe three valuable principles that emerge from these inspired words.
First: God is the main builder of the family.
The text makes a comparison: If Jehovah does not build the house, human effort is worthless. This shows us that the initiatives and work of parents must be in harmony with divine principles. When we seek guidance from Jehovah, he blesses our efforts.
Second: God is the protector of our home.
Although parents strive to provide physical and emotional security for their children, complete protection comes from Jehovah. Let us place full trust in Him, because He understands the needs of each family better than anyone.
Third: God also takes care of health and rest.
Verse 2 indicates that it is not necessary to be excessively sleepless or toilsome in raising children. Jehovah wants us to have balance and feel peace in the process of educating them. He provides the means and strength we need to move forward and be in a better position to take care of the family.
LET'S READ PSALM 127:3.
Look! Children are an inheritance from Jehovah; The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Here we learn that children are an inheritance and reward, that is, they are a gift that comes directly from Jehovah. Why is it so special to see them that way? Because as the Bible shows, Angels do not have the privilege of having children, however, human beings are given that ability, we are entrusted with a sacred responsibility.
Parents not only receive the blessing of having children but also the responsibility of raising them in the discipline and counsel of Jehovah (Ephesians 6:4). Their spiritual and emotional growth rests largely on the effort and dedication of those who gave them life.
God's organization bets on us to provide abundant Bible material, publications, videos, songs and online articles to guide parents. The purpose is to reinforce our children's love for Jehovah, so that they learn to serve him and be part of the great family that adores him.
So parents, when you consider what a wonderful privilege it is to bring children into the world and guide them, reflect on how grateful you should feel. Jehovah not only gives us an inheritance, but also helps us care for it and strengthen it day after day.
LET'S READ PSALM 127:4.
Like arrows in the hand of a powerful man, so are the children born in youth.
The dates can vary in shape, size and material, but an expert archer knows how to adjust each arrow to its target, in the same way each child is unique, they have a different personality, strengths and challenges. What practical implications does this have? Just as an archer examines his arrows, parents should be interested in the inclinations, tastes and challenges of each child. When you know them well you can give them the specific help and advice they need. Some children may respond better to a certain teaching method, while others may need something different.
For example, there are parents who study the Bible with each child separately, to reach deeper into each child's heart. When He observes the effort they make to strengthen the family bond and guide each child along the best path, He undoubtedly feels great satisfaction. Parents, remember that your influence and example will forever mark the lives of your children. Throughout this speech we have stressed the importance of praying, seeking divine guidance, and striving to fulfill our family duties.
Why can we trust that we will receive help from Jehovah? Because he himself promises to bless the efforts of those who love and obey him. When parents base their decisions on the word of God and strive to raise their children in the truth, Jehovah is certainly there to strengthen them.
The image that illustrates this speech of ours to a father sharing valuable time with his children, while reading together you can see the joy and imagination of the children, reflected in the scenes of an environment full of life and adventures in the jungle, with animals big and kind. This scene reminds us that childhood is a time full of curiosity and wonder and that parents have the precious mission of guiding that imagination and energy toward what truly builds. Just as the father in the illustration sits teaching and enjoying a moment with his children, you parents have the privilege of laying the foundations for your children's future and, above all, strengthening your relationship with Jehovah.
Dear parents, do not neglect this great gift, Jehovah has given you a treasure and is counting on you to protect and feed it, may the words of Psalms 127:1-4 be fulfilled in your homes and may you continue to enjoy peace, satisfaction and blessings that come from raising your children in the love of Jehovah. This way they will not only be building a home for the present but also giving their children the possibility of being part of Jehovah's family forever. Courage! Continue with the beautiful and sacred work of taking care of the inheritance that Jehovah gave you.
