While the sister next door is smiling because this sister is daring to comment, you can see how tense her face is.

Do you get like that when you want to comment? Are you one of those people who raises your hand as if your arm is too heavy? And when she is watching the brother who runs the Watchtower, begging him not to see her, or her hands are sweating tremendously, her nerves are on edge, she can't stand the tension anymore. And suddenly the brother who is running the Watchtower looks straight at you, and gives you the floor to comment. You look at the article and the letters all move, you don't know where to start. He had every word in his mind, with every detail to say it and suddenly they were erased.

What nerves, right? Have you been left without a word? Terrible, no doubt, but of course, the little sister next door is smiling, happy that you cheered up, but you have suffered a lot. Therefore, what a good topic, in the treasures section of the Bible: Don't let your nerves stop you!

All of us have experienced those nervous moments. Some people notice it more, others know how to hide it very well, but we all go through that situation. It can be, as we saw, to comment in the meeting, for a presentation on the platform, it can be in normal matters such as a job interview, etc. It is normal to feel a little tension, but the important thing is not to allow it to paralyze us, to stop us from doing what we have set out to do.

It's more or less how to think of a small boat, which is sailing through a rough sea. The waves crash very hard against its hull, the wind whips its waves. Everyone at the top gets water, gets wet, but they are fighting against everything to get the ship to its destination. And what do they use to guide safely to their port? Therefore, don't let your nerves stop you, don't stop you. But why is it that more and more brothers are daring to participate with their comments in the meetings?

LET'S READ PSALM 138:1

I will praise you with all my heart. Before other gods I will sing praises to you.

What a beautiful reason to show our love to Jehovah, right? That, if we love him deeply, won't our nerves stop us? We can imagine that Jehovah is pleased when we offer him the best of ourselves, and that includes our participation in the meetings.

When we share our thoughts, when we share our feelings based on the Bible, we are showing our love for him and for our brothers, because a comment from him may be what they need to move forward or to understand a point that perhaps in their homes they they had not understood.

We can be Jehovah's instrument to help others, and remember that in the meetings, if there are two or more, there is the Holy Spirit, there is Jesus, and that will help us motivate, comment, help our brothers and demonstrate the deep love we have for our God.

And we can do nothing by our own strength, by our own power. You can prepare as best you can, but if you do not have Jehovah's support, if you do not turn to Him, if you do not receive Jehovah's Holy Spirit, that could cause us to fail. Therefore, it is important to recognize that Jehovah is willing to give us his spirit to strengthen us and give us confidence, that confidence that we so need. And some brothers who also deeply feel these nerves have had a small tactic when commenting, and that is to pray to Jehovah.

LET'S READ PSALM 138:3

The day I called, you answered me; You made me a brave and strong person.

How about making that point in the meeting, when you want to comment? Pray to Jehovah, of course, moments before participating with your desire to comment. Prayer has a profound effect on us. We have been able to see brothers, members of the governing body, who before giving a speech in front of an audience, and brothers with many years of experience, and who also know how to express themselves using the Bible, how they handle it perfectly, we have seen that they reach a wall of the kingdom hall, they pray for his guidance, and they are ready to do what has been so requested of them.

How about we do that? But even if you do all this, you still feel nervous. What happens there? Are you not having Jehovah's approval? Nothing of the sort.

LET'S READ PSALM 138:6

Although Jehovah is high, he notices the humble, but he only knows the arrogant from afar.

With this text, Jehovah makes it very clear that he pays attention to their efforts. And did you know that nerves can be a sign that we care about what we are doing? That we are committed to what we are going to say and what we want to do well, because we are going to do it for Jehovah, for Jehovah. So those nerves are a sign that you are humble and that you are considering that others are superior to you, and that you want to do things well, both for Jehovah and for the brothers. So, don't let your nerves stop you.

What suggestions can we follow to be able to participate in meetings even if we are very afraid? The watchtower 2023 for the month of April, page 21, paragraph 7, contains some suggestions.

Prepare well. The more you know the information, the more you understand it, the easier it will be for you to raise your hand. And when you have the floor to do so, comment briefly. This magazine said, fewer words, less nerves. Good advice, right?
