Start conversations (4 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Find a way to tell the person something you recently learned in a meeting (lmd lesson 4 point 3).
Publisher: Hello! How nice to see you again. How have you been?
Helper: Hello, good, thank you. And you?
Publisher: Good too. thank you. I remembered you the other day because in a meeting we talked about something that I thought was very interesting, and I thought you might like it too.
Assistant: Oh yeah? What was it about?
Publisher: We were discussing how many times worries can make us lose sight of the good things we have in life. Sometimes, when we face problems, it seems that we only focus on the negative and forget about everything that is going well. It made me think about how many times that has happened to me. Hasn't it happened to you too?
Assistant: Yes, of course. Sometimes you get so stressed over the bad things that you don't see the good.
Publisher: Exactly. And something I really liked about the meeting is that we talked about how gratitude can help us see life from another perspective. Sometimes, even in difficult times, if we stop to think about what we do have, it changes the way we see things. What do you think?
Assistant: Well yes, I think it's true. Sometimes we only focus on what is missing and not on what we have.
Publisher: Exactly. And I liked it because in the Bible there is a verse that encourages us not to worry so much about the future, but to live in the present with confidence. In Matthew 6:34, where Jesus said that each day has its own problems and that we should not worry too much about tomorrow. I thought it was very wise advice. Have you heard it before?
Assistant: Yes, I think so, but I've never thought about it that way.
Publisher: It also made me see it in a different way. It helped me remember that worrying too much doesn't change anything, but it does steal our peace. That's why, since I heard it, I've tried to focus more on the good. What do you do when you feel worried?
Assistant: Well, I try to distract myself, go for a walk or talk to someone.
Publisher: That's good. I have also found that talking to someone helps a lot. And another thing that has helped me is prayer. At the meeting they talked about how expressing our concerns in prayer can give us peace. I don't know if you've ever prayed to feel better.
Assistant: Well yes, but I don't do it very often.
Publisher: I understand. Sometimes we don't know what to say or we think it won't work. But at the meeting we were reminded that God does not expect us to use complicated words. He just wants us to talk honestly. I really liked it, because it made me think that we are not alone in our concerns. Would you like me to share some tips I learned about how to pray effectively another time?
Assistant: Yes, of course, I would like to hear them.
Publisher: Great! Next time I'll share them with you. In the meantime, hopefully this thought will help you see things more calmly when you're having a difficult day.
